Considering the Microsoft leaks, it appears that even Microsoft does not have unlimited money to fund the propaganda. I was doubtful before, but I believe many publishers will be shifting their money elsewhere after repeated failures — either failure in development, or in sales.

Embracer acquired all those studios and their most profitable games are a couple indie game made by a handful of people, and a 15 year old MMORPG. I don't think a single one of their studios has made anything of note, unless you consider a long string of failed ESGslop to be of note. I don't know anything about this franchise, but given that the character existed in the original and apparently passed without comment there, I'm thinking the backlash is mostly politically driven: With so many decisions seemingly being made for political reasons, people will react to decisions apparently made for these reasons negatively even if the true explanation wasn't political. And it may very well be to make her front and center where she used to be a background character, dunno who these people are.

However, nothing wrong with looking perpetually angry. Resting bitchface is my fetish. However, the willful choice of an unattractive protagonist is definitely a bold move, one that doesn't seem to be panning out.

BG3 and Starfield are getting a lot of negative feedback in their forums / steam community pages / reviews over their ESG ******** though.. but unless that translates to lost sales / revenue it's just pissing in the wind.
