Adventurer's Guild 𝙲𝙻𝙰𝚂𝚂𝙸𝙲 Issue #12 β€” Quest for Glory: So You Want to Be a Hero

Post by rusty_shackleford »

There are at least two versions available, the original QFG or the VGA remake. Either is fine.
ScummVM also has full support for the original and the remake(along with some obscure ports, it seems?)

https://www.gog.com/en/game/quest_for_glory

More info: https://www.mobygames.com/game/16075/qu ... be-a-hero/

Regarding continuity: I believe both versions can export a character to be imported into QFG2(? Which versions of QFG2? All?) If anyone can confirm, that would be great.

Original/remake differences: ? I believe the original uses a parser interface, remake uses keywords? @Tweed?

To the user that PM'd me with the suggestion: You weren't ignored, I just wanted something shorter for this round.

QfG 3 is the weakest of the bunch, but it was shoved in because they wanted the Hero to get more Heroic before Shadows of Darkness.

Suggest some ideas for it.
The OG box cover is more impressive than the SCI remake: https://www.mobygames.com/game/168/hero ... er-221219/

The dragon head might work.

This is AG Classic, so the pin will have a pixel art appearance.

Here's an idea I had to try and capture the tone of the game via brighter colors. And before anyone pulls out their ruler, yes, the character is slightly off-center to imply the journey ahead.

You know, I've only ever played the VGA version, maybe I could try the original.

By the way, I don't think the fan remake of 2, even though competently made, is worth it. The graphics in the original 2 are really really good for the palette.

+/- on the numpad change movement speed. I should probably read the manual.

The original was EGA :)
I think this might be one of the earliest examples of a remake, actually?

Does anyone know where this wiki page is getting its text from?

Picked up a copy of Quest for Glory V: Dragon Fire back when games still came in nice boxes, but held off installing it after I learned you could import your saved game from the previous titles. I've been meaning to try this series out for a while, but never got around to aquiring the rest of them...
β–Ί I still have that boxed copy of Quest for Glory 5.
The set has been purchased, the game installed, let the journey begin! Image

This is a Sierra game, any softlocks I should watch out for?
(Space Quest had some nasty ones...)

This was the first thing I searched for and didn't find anything, maybe someone here knows. I suspect QFG is probably not as unforgiving due to it being an adventure/RPG hybrid

I think I prefer keyword-based dialogue to long, drawn out dialogue trees. Don't particularly like this implementation because the keywords keep shifting around, tho.

β–Ί Found a list, may be a few spoilers... but don't do any of this unless you want to wander a doomed world:
Definitely a game where you should make multiple save files. Image
