Have the old books still for Vampire Counts and Chaos Warriors, brother has Green Skins/Orcs ones. Posted them in tabletop thread I believe. I can't really pick a favorite as there's a few that have traits that I find to be a 'personal favorite'.
I have the Nagash Trilogy books and I like the Skaven's unrelenting, try to out-cunning Nagash's Kemri/Undead forces. These battles went on for years in the tunnels as described in the book and made for a nice read. 3rd book was probably my favorite.
-Lizardmen wise, I like the colors and unit types and the overall aesthetic.
-Vampire Counts, as T.K said have a nice 'charm/orchestral beauty' to them. I want to get the Vampire Counts Omnibus at some point which has various stories in it but I've been too busy to get a good read in lately.
-Chaos Warriors is what I started with ( tabletop wise against my brother's Green Skins and Goblins ) He read the Skarsnik book for a school project once after I bought it for him when we were painting models and playing Vermintide 1 at the time lol.
-Bretonnia I appreciate more now. Lots of color options and they just look great fielded.

What I like about Warhammer is that ALL human factions have huge flaws. Eg -
- Tilea - More backstabing than Tzeentch cults
- Estalia - Too much flamboyism
- Cathay - Beurocracy nightmare
- Bretonnia - Nobles more arrogant than elves and more stubborn than dwarfs
- Empire - Zealotry, disunity and paranoia.
- Kislev - Everextension and stubbornness.
- Nippon - Rigid traditionalism and isolationism.
