The last badge that I'd like to give a revision is Shard of Spring. Thoughts?

The game is pretty ugly and doesn't really have any (good) distinctive art in it. Not sure what you can do other than the shard from the box art.J1M wrote: ↑ August 4th, 2025, 13:41@Watser @Tweed @SpellSword @Tangerine @1998

We are constrained to something that has the look/feel of pixel art. But it might be interesting to put a game sprite at native resolution on a badge, such as a notorious enemy type. I don't think we've done that yet.Tangerine wrote: ↑ August 4th, 2025, 14:33The game is pretty ugly and doesn't really have any (good) distinctive art in it. The DOS version's art was functional, but not really pretty to look at. The Apple II version was a bit more colorful but not really more detailed.Tangerine wrote: ↑ August 4th, 2025, 14:33The game is pretty ugly and doesn't really have any (good) distinctive art in it. I've a question. Does a game on the list need to have been completed recently, or is there no limit? I completed some of these games more than 20 years ago, so I understand if you want a wee bit closer to the present.

Fair enough mate. Unfortunate I dinnae know how to screenshot a game back in 1998, so I'll ave to replay Baldur's Gate again.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ August 15th, 2025, 00:26No time limit so long as you have some from of proofCornCake wrote: ↑ August 15th, 2025, 00:22I've a question. The dialogue wheel was hated by the actual gamers even back then. The normalfags ate it up because it was more "cinematic."Finarfin wrote: ↑ September 12th, 2025, 23:10Dialogue wheel, even if it's hated nowadays,WAS mass effect.maidenhaver IV wrote: ↑ September 12th, 2025, 22:53The N7 looks great. dialogue wheels are hated because dialogue tree lovers want to feel like they came up with the super smart quips written by the writer
video game dialogue sucks and will continue to suck until we have more advanced LLMs

The same complainers don't realize they are going to pick every option tagged as "Paragon" regardless of how it is printed on the screen. Would be nice to finally see a game with equally as many benefits for presenting a balanced stance as for going extreme.logincrash wrote: ↑ September 13th, 2025, 05:03The dialogue wheel was hated by the actual gamers even back then. The solution to this is to remove the tags.J1M wrote: ↑ September 13th, 2025, 05:26The same complainers don't realize they are going to pick every option tagged as "Paragon" regardless of how it is printed on the screen.
Don't know when they became popular, but Fallout did not display the tags on the dialogue. It's an antipattern(…antidesign?)

I can tell the difference without the tags. The problem is that there are interesting consequences for going all-in and are not for going balanced/whimsical/principled.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 13th, 2025, 05:27The solution to this is to remove the tags.J1M wrote: ↑ September 13th, 2025, 05:26The same complainers don't realize they are going to pick every option tagged as "Paragon" regardless of how it is printed on the screen.
