Altered v1.0 Morrowind Master File v1.0 — The Elder Scrolls Iii: Morrowind

Post by Akadosan »

A recent mod released for Morrowind possibly intended for people who own the CD or people who want to experience Morrowind without superfluous things like MGE XE or the Code patch, more info attached in a txt file from the original author into the rar.
Reuploaded here for archival purposes as Nexus considers the file illegal even when it doesn't come with anything that can run the game on it's own.
This is meant to replace the original Morrowind.esm and its basically a fixed version of the .esm that removes superfluous cells and npc's that the game doesn't use aside of fixing many bugs and scripts natively without extra tools.
Per say it's an extreme version of a patch for purists who just want to run Morrowind without the DLC and nothing else.
Im not the original author but I don't think this .esm file can be considered illegal in any way shape or form.

File is uploaded to catbox because I don't know how to get access to the vault for upload, if anyone is willing to reupload to the vault so it can have a permanent stay on the site good if not just leave a post when the link goes down and I will reupload as needed.

Hard agree that this mod isn't illegal, I remember seeing this mod and the pricks who jumped on the uploaders back, I also remember seeing a nexus moderator in the comments there at the time semi defending the mod but also trying to say that all Morrowind mods are illegal somehow? How does that make any sense but I suppose we should expect such logic from the Nexus at this point.

Oh right well from what I understand it is essentially a further patched esm file for those who don't use or can't use some of the extender programs used and just want to keep to a vanilla but more stable and bug-free experience, I may have missed some details as I haven't run the mod myself personally.

I think I have a better idea of what it is now anyways.

So, on the copyright/IP rights stuff, Nexusmods probably gets more hate than it deserves if you look at it from a business perspective. Building a business on the back of what is effectively copyright infringement is just not a good idea to begin with.

I'm not all that experienced with business related things to be honest but I imagine from that side it would probably be better to be safe rather than sorry if it could risk there business, still though I think they could be clearer in how they communicate these things, my personal experience with them has been misleading and confusing.
