Has a game that needs a remake ever gotten one?
With rumors of an FNV remake coming up(I'm not expecting much from it considering how the oblivion one was just overall worse graphics & poor performance with zero other changes), it made me think that this might be the first time a game that could greatly benefit from a remake is getting one.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

The upcoming Trails in the Sky FC remake. The original game had flaws, namely the top down isometric view where you spend 50 hours looking down at green grass, brown dirt and grey rocks. It was also the first entry in the series and had boring, unengaging combat which amounted to just building everyone as casters and spamming the same highest level AoE art you had access to (Aero, Death Scream, or White Gehenna). As the first in a 13+ game long serialized storyline, it turned a lot of people away from the series as they felt that they either had to slog through homework that did not appeal to them very much, or skipped ahead to later games that were more appealing. The remake will solve the presentation and combat issues. It's pretty much the new Kuro/Daybreak games' presentation and battle design that incentivizes you to use each character's wide array of unique abilities, but with the plot and characters of Trails in the Sky. Currently there is some debate about the localization, or rather the delocalization since the original Trails in the Sky FC we got is actually mostly fanfiction written by XSEED. The localization for the remake is more faithful to what the Japanese devs actually wrote, but Trails vets from the XSEED days are bitter than some famous fanficcy lines and characterizations are gone.
The Utawarerumono remake/remaster (Prelude to the Fallen) was also a nice glowup that brought the first game's 3D combat sections and sound direction in line with the Masks duology.

I forgot. The Pokemon remakes. Fire Red and HGSS are the definitive ways to play Kanto and Johto. Improved visual fidelity while retaining the classic lived in Pokemon aesthetic. Gameplay improvements and QoLs without making the game very easy. Wider roster of Pokemon to access. Etc. ORAS is an edge case because it is where the actual game experience was damaged due to the team wide exp share/constant teleporting which trivialized the game and made you less immersed in the journey, and the execution of the oversaturated 3D graphics left a lot to be desired. The QoLs and larger roster is much appreciated though. Ultimately not a replacement for the original Hoenn games but still worthwhile.
I enjoyed the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3. I did not particularly care for the faithful remake of the first one, and the the greater gameplay changes made them more palatable. Didn't bother with 4, it was already fine enough.
I found Metroid Zero Mission an improvement over the archaic original.

I saw some screenshots, the libtarded Japs censored themselves.
What would you like to see improved in FNV? I think it's fine as it is and I don't expect anything decent out of Bethesda now anyway.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 4th, 2025, 01:44it made me think that this might be the first time a game that could greatly benefit from a remake is getting one.

Does fixing it require some tweaks to the gameplay or a complete overhaul of Bethesda's gameplay formula?
Well, the modern day remake will make this problem worse.

Trails in the Sky is already ruined by trannylators.

Replaying Fallout NW right now. It doesn't need a remake. Instant loading between locations in Bethesda games thanks to fan patches and modern hardware is superior to any other possible "upgrades".
Now back to the question. Dota got a remake by Valve which I liked a lot more than original, played it for a few years before my free time became sparse.

fnv is missing about half of the planned content + crashes constantly unless you install 17 separate engine 'fixes'(then it just crashes every 45 minutes)

This "censorship" seems fine and reasonable to me - the original makes the characters sound insane
VAE VICTIS
I just grab repacks made by Foxx and play them with no problems but he mostly have only Russian versions available. Had zero crashes. Can even alt+tab with no problems.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 4th, 2025, 20:54fnv is missing about half of the planned content + crashes constantly unless you install 17 separate engine 'fixes'(then it just crashes every 45 minutes)
I found the oblivion remake not really a remake at all, its just a high fidelity remaster. It adds little aside from that.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 4th, 2025, 01:44With rumors of an FNV remake coming up(I'm not expecting much from it considering how the oblivion one was just overall worse graphics & poor performance with zero other changes), it made me think that this might be the first time a game that could greatly benefit from a remake is getting one.![]()
