Uh oh...lol We play on the remastered version but use the old school graphics switch option. I have a copy of the original game but the install disc is missing. I'm not sure if it's still in a storage box or another cd case somewhere so we just decided to play on this version for now, instead of waiting for them to arrive if ordered. I would like to get one of those battlechest/LOD Expansion pack boxes for us though if I can locate a couple to order for us for another playthrough.

When you open inventory and move around the UI and menus it stays the cleaner remastered version. Might be a setting I didn't notice that makes everything original looking but I never put much thought into it.

Meph wise, no that was our first and only take down of him (H) difficulty. We never farmed any bosses even once. He did drop a unique, it was a low level (35 or 45 something?) 2H Axe but my brother picked it up before I took the picture, as I let him take most of the sets and uniques for his own stashes for future characters since I have hoards of alts already filled to the brim with stuff. He got a full set of Siggy's too from our total run. I tell him to keep the copies of things that drop I already have.

I do have F A N A T I C I S M but I like to swap a lot between a bunch of different ones like Def Resist Aura's, Salvation, Vigor, Conviction ( which is what I default to mostly to debuff mobs ). I mainly didn't want to run Fanaticism exclusively so we're not killing stuff too fast as I wanted to stretch the playthrough out so it's a bit harder and we spend more time together lol.

Finished Strider for the Genesis. Never had the patience to get past the first level till now, quite an exhausting experience. Even with rewinds there were a few places where I just had to accept a death so I could take on a boss with a full lifebar. Took 40 minutes, would have been much longer if I had to play legitimately.

I did and it's not worth the trouble, it's not as good as you remember when it only ran at 5 fps.

Finished Thief: Deadly Shadows. Big improvement on both Invisible War and the previous Thief games. The first two had levels I really didn't like at all, this one gave me exactly what I wanted, didn't mind the absence of **** arrows. The glitchy jumping and climbing was a bit annoying to put up with but pretty funny.

I found the maps to be a good size (certainly felt bigger than Invisible War's) and liked how the loading screens kept them in easily managed chunks. The much-memed Shalebridge Cradle felt a bit too long for me with all the things you have to do to keep going though I liked the atmosphere, enemies, and narrative overall.

Yeah, I see your preference now.
I played DS first (because I'm a toddler) and liked it. And then went to play first two games and (almost) never looked back. I like hub system of DS, but level complexity and variety of the first two games were on a completely different level.
I also felt that the Shalebridge was too long. But that was mostly the issue of the bad level design, and it almost never happened to me in the first two games. The best example of it I remember is Metal Age mechanist Cathedral, but they intentionally went for that impression (and, after all, it was unfinished). And maybe some parts of the Lost City, because I didn't really like all the aesthetics.

I had that game on my mind recently. I saw there's an unofficial patch that's supposed to fix some of the (supposedly?) game breaking bugs. Did you play it with that?

About to start Wuchang aka chinese souls slop. They censored it because the Chinese weren't fans of how specific historical characters were portrayed. Luckily a rolled back version exists via a mod so I'll be playing that version instead.

Finished Bloodborne and its expansion, The Old Hunters.

The base game was alright. Did not blew my socks off like the sonyboys were promising, but I enjoyed it well enough. It's definitely better than Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3, in fact it made me retroactively dislike Dark Souls 3 even more than I already do due to how explicitly DS3 being a Bloodborne asset flip.

Cool visuals and environmental/monster designs, cool weapons, great atmosphere and vibe. The quality of level design was consistently decent, with no really bad/unfinished/annoying levels like Lost Izalith.

Didn't like how the entire game looked the same (yharnam streets, gothic cathedrals, yharnam streets, gothic cathedrals, yharnam streets... oh hey a forest!.. yharnam streets, gothic cathedrals, yharnam streets...), didn't like how you can't warp between checkpoints without having to go back to the hub area. Didn't like the upgrade system with those socketable gems, my inventory was full of garbage like "cursed tempering **** adept triangular blood gem tier 3" or "nourishing finestrike heavy fire blood gem tier 5" - who even likes this ****? Didn't like how there was no plot whatsoever - just some old fart from the hub area telling you 'oy mate, you're a hoonter, you gotta hoont mr beast, go on then", then you meander through different areas while killing monsters, and then the game just sort of ends.

Also noticed that The Old Hunters DLC was THE moment Fromsoft went from 'normal bossfights' to '******** overtuned fights for le hardcore players'. The very first boss of the expansion (Ludwig) is a huge monster that doesn't fit into the screen, has an incomprehensible appearance (multiple appendages, etc), and erratic movement patterns that are hard to read and react to. The second boss is a le epic anime woman with a sword who constantly punishes you by delaying attacks mid-combo to catch you on a mistimed dodge. And the last boss is some mutated ****** on cocaine who jumps around with infinite anime combos and oneshots you with magic out of his ***. I mean, I still defeated them with relative ease, but that happened mostly due to me already beating Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring before. I can't imagine Orphan of Kos or Ludwig being pleasant experiences back in 2015, their presentation aside.

Didn't care for Chalice dungeons. Neat idea in theory, really boring slog in practice. Only finished them to see the Chalice-exclusive bosses, time spent wasn't worth it in a hindsight.

Doing another playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2. Just finished the side mission where Arthur, Bill, and Tilley go to rob a stage, but Bill and Tilley go to arguing like dolts while Arthur single-handedly chases down the stage, kills everybody, hops aboard to stop the horses from suiciding themselves, and then still only gets 33% of the take despite doing all the **** work. I can see giving Bill a finder's fee for knowing where to intercept the stage, but still.

Watching reviews of Mafia: the Old Country to see if I might be interested once it's no longer new and goes on sale.

RDR2 story missions are dogshit. Too restrictive for the sake of being "cinematic." It's like Rockstar was making two things at the same time: a cowboy simulator game and a ****** western movie.
Roaming around the sandbox gutting people and blowing heads off with a sawn-off is much more fun than following some yapping ****** on a horse for 40 minutes from point A to point B. And God forbid you stray off the path for 30 feet. That's a Mission Failed for you.
Also, Arthur is a modern day ****** written by modern day *******, not an actual 1890s outlaw.

A lot of missions are fun, but yeah -- despise the rail-roading, especially with the loot mechanism. I've failed ' A Short Walk in a Pretty Town' MANY times because I didn't follow the script or spent too long raiding bodies.

Finished 9 Fire Emblem games over the past month or so.

Finished:
FE7 - Blazing Blade - GBA
FE8 - Sacred Stones - GBA
FE11 - Shadow Dragon - DS
FE13 - Awakening - 3DS
FE14 - Fates: Birthright - 3DS
FE14 - Fates: Conquest - 3DS
FE15 - Echoes - 3DS
FE16 - Three Houses - Switch (emulated)
FE17 - Engage - Switch (emulated)

Currently Playing:
FE9 - Path of Radiance - Gamecube - I'm about 80% done
FE12 - New Mystery of the Emblem - DS - Literally just started it

Upcoming (in order)
FE10 - Radiant Dawn - Wii
FE4 - Genealogy of the Holy War - SNES
FE5 - Thracia 776 - SNES

I'm skipping 1-3 since 11, 12, and 15 are their remakes. I'd rather replay the better games on higher difficulties than suffer through NES jank after already being used to the modern entries.

Overall extremely fun series with very addicting gameplay. It's at it's best with minimal story like Blazing Blade, Sacred Stones, and Shadow Dragon. Three Houses is my least favorite game in the series so far, I enjoyed it a lot still but it was such a drag towards the end and I haven't felt that way from any of the other games

It's not that women shouldn't be allowed to vote. It's that people who consume more in government subsidies than pay in taxes shouldn't get to vote. Because you know who costs more than they provide? Children and dogs. You know who doesn't get to vote? Children and dogs. People who behave like children and dogs should be treated accordingly. Otherwise you're just cultivating a class of people who will continually vote for more gibs. The solution is to make it so those people don't get to vote once they've asked for more than they've paid for.

It's pretty bad and a big stepdown from the first game, but I'm interested to see where the story goes and the first one made me feel like a kid again in the early 2000s.

Symptom, not cause. Democracy was doomed the moment people discovered they could vote themselves more money. That's the cause.

I found him more difficult that the bosses in the base game, but less difficult than Ludwig or OOK. His only really problematic move is a long-*** combo during the second phase, other than that he was pretty manageable.
