Demon Bluff

Demon Bluff is unique social deduction game currently available for play testing in that it is single player. You are given an assortment of villager cards (good) and outcast cards (neutrals that mess up your villager cards) and need to find the evil(s) amongst them by amalgamating all the information given and deducing who is lying. I am a long time enjoyer of games such as Spyfall, Town of Salem, and Among Us, so Demon Bluff fills a niche for when I want to play a social deduction game but do not have the time or inclination to play with others. That said, I do not believe I would purchase the game due to its politics. The Discord Community is left-coded with their inclusion of selective pro-nouns and I do not believe this to be an accident since many of the cards in game break gender roles; such as having a female knight. My recommendation is to enjoy the game while it is in its free playtest since it is a fun time brain teaser; but leave when they go into release. The poz is there, but it is late 2000s levels of left-wing cringe; tolerable for a free game.

I have played with a forum mafia group for about 10 years now. To me, the appeal of the activity wasn't just the actual gameplay/mechanics alone (though I did find imaginative setups to be very engaging), but popping in on your lunch break or coming home after work and shooting the breeze with your internet acquaintances. A singleplayer version of that with just the mechanics doesn't sound that entertaining. I have also been leery of those videogame versions like Town of Salem or Among Us, since it's not a forum format where people can pop in over two days and there can be a lot of back and forth discussions. In my experience, the rounds go by really fast and there isn't time for discussions, which makes the voting process feel unengaging. It seems like something you do while in voice chat with your WoW guild after the raid is over.
