Junior Adventurer's Guild - August: King Arthur: Knight's Tale
why they gotta make Mordred wrong-handed
Are alignment-affiliated heroes better than neutral ones? Or are neutrals simply slower to progress loyalty?
Is it worth getting 1 spare Defender in case Mordred gets injured?
Is it worth investing into perception? Or will I find chests anyway?

I can't wait to upgrade this to every 4nd hit.
I was halfway through the second playthrough of this game when I first realized most characters are left handed in the game.
1) Heroes are balanced regardless of alignment, which means you should take few neutrals if you can afford it. People who agree-disagree with you are also "neutral" in that sense.TheEmptyRoad wrote: ↑ August 11th, 2025, 03:481) Are alignment-affiliated heroes better than neutral ones? 2) Yes, but bear in mind Mordred is required for the story missions, meaning if he gets injured at a point where there are no more sidequests then you are ****** regardless.
3) Yes, and spell craft too. IIRC they both cap at 3 with 2 being enough for most hidden things. Shrines are random, BTW, so you can't skip spellcraft and read a guide or watch for colors to know which shrine does what.
Brave Sir Lanval fell to Sc*ttish arrows. I really thought Yvain was going to die on this one. He will be remembered for being a worse sir Balan.

God **** I hate the Lost, I hate Telwyr. Even on Normal I had to readjust my party and tactics a couple times before I got him the second time. Yeesh.
Sages are the **** though, they’re basically Clerics; Guinevere and Isolde are unironically carrying me through these Lvl10 Missions. Not so sure about picking Morgawse over Merlin though, yeah she’s Old Faith Tyrant like me this playthrough but she’s a Sage who works more like an Arcanist and boy is she AP-Hungry.

Mommy is the single best disabler in the game, she is better than Merlin in every way. Direct magical damage is just not good in this game.

I couldn't tell you why they did it, but it's something they've been consistent about for almost 20 years

Same goes with Monster Hunter, for some ungodly reason they make you wield one handed weapons lefty, but hold two handers in a right-handed stancerusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 12th, 2025, 14:17I couldn't tell you why they did it, but it's something they've been consistent about for almost 20 years

Unpleasant.
Because that Zelda fella holds his sword left-handed.
Act 2 Finished.
Killed the Fisher King, lost my boy Tristan though. Rest in Peace.
Vanguards are squishy man, I can't really get the hang of 'em. I should probably try and figure that out before a Christian Playthrough since I'll likely be using more of them as damage dealers (Like Telgyr and Balin) since the Christians don't get as much magical stuff - for obvious reasons.
Now time to go find the Faerie Knight and kill some Sidhe!

Dagonet’s recruitment mission was very uncomfortable, never doing it again. Literally just killing Christians and desecrating holy sites. Man I hate him.
Mechanically a very useful companion who effectively replaces Ector, but the game makes you commit to being a Pagan Tyrant.
Might start a Rightful Christian run soon just to cleanse my conscience a bit.

I lost Ector recruiting Lucan. Not worth the trade.
Sages and Arcanists are a rarity if going Christian, keep who you can. Dagonet though is an Old Faith-Tyrant Arcanist who comes with a fantastic area-denial spell; I could afford to replace Ector, who was slowly losing loyalty due to my Old Faith decisions.

Ector pays me rent when I leave him in his mage tower. He's going to have to leave on his own.
I've won major battles simply by staying in place behind a wall of traps. You can pool AP to have a champion clear out whoever steps on them and place them again. Yvain picks off any archers and the grinder keeps churning.TheEmptyRoad wrote: ↑ August 13th, 2025, 03:05Act 2 Finished.

I have a bunch of points in hiding bonuses, but the real work is being done by the traps that sap AP.
Link is left-handed because the shield button in Zelda 64 was activated with the right hand.

He's been left-handed since Zelda 1.J1M wrote: ↑ August 14th, 2025, 00:23Link is left-handed because the shield button in Zelda 64 was activated with the right hand.

Edit: I heard it's because Miyamoto is left-handed himself.

And so ends the tale of the mighty King Arthur Pendragon. Beaten by a drunken Gaelic ******* with too much time to play games. Me ancestors are smiling down in disgust.
Is that the end of the game for the adventurer's guild purpose, or need I complete the endgame as well?

Since a random unseen force decided to bestow upon me the flair, the game ends officially at the last mission of act 4. Everything past that point is endgame.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ August 14th, 2025, 01:45I dunno what the endgame is!CornCake wrote: ↑ August 14th, 2025, 01:42And so ends the tale of the mighty King Arthur Pendragon. Dindraine and ector in 2 winning teams so far
Ector's summoning is OP as ****. Learned early on that summons draw aggro like mad and dinnae attack anything else.

Guessing they nerfed vanguards because they were completely broken at release and the archers were useless

Having done all the alignment recruiting missions for my Old Faith Tyrant Alignment I will say this:
Tyrant is edgy cringe. Dagonet is Pagan-Larper cringe. Black Knight is emo/chuunibyo cringe. Red Knight is edgy murderhobo cringe.
Old Faith is neat, if you’re into Celtic Aesthetics. Bedevire is a really good Trap-focused Vanguard, shame he doesn’t have jump. Morgana le Fay is an Ice Magic beast, and I love the vibe of the little village her recruitment mission takes place in.
EDIT/ADDENDUM:
Mechanically Dagonet is a really good Arcanist with, in my opinion, the best Area-Denial effect in the game; Desecrated Ground.
Black Knight is some weird combination of Hexes and Melee. Like he gets melee combat bonuses from his Hex power stat; it's odd.
Red Knight is a decent Defender I guess, his focus on Bleed doesn't really mesh with being a Tank though.
Unironically the best Tyrant Heroes are the ones you get from other quests: Brunor le Noir is a Bleed-focused Champion, Balin is a decent Vanguard, Ector is great, and Morgawse is more than worth getting on a Christian Tyrant run than Merlin since unlike Merlin, she's also a Tyrant to balance old her Old Faith and gives a Christian Tyrant a decent Sage, since Guinevere and Isolde are Old-Faith Righteous and Old Faith respectively.
