Baldur's Gate 3
I'm glad that that's how you interpreted that brothel scene, but what that actually means is that she's 100% down to **** you. Her even being open to the idea of sharing should've had alarms going off in your head.swbgtoc wrote: β August 9th, 2025, 08:00Karlach's only redeeming quality is her face. Sure she has strong features but it's still a feminine face, the previous iterations were much uglier. She has a hideous male body though. And her character is awful, a big reddit chungus. I changed her using the Appearence Edit Enhanced mod and I thought I wouldn't mind her personality once she's cute but no, it's just ridiculous to have this backstory with this personality.DoubleOO7 wrote: β August 9th, 2025, 05:11I found karlach as a character very appealing, though I hated how Manish they made her face + women shouldn't be barbarians.
Laezel initially was very girl boss to the point it was obnoxious, though I found it compelling how she became more feminine/opened up more as the romance progressed + also being a woman in a fighter class is just stupid.
Just in general I have my problems with the gith, mostly because it's monarchy that's also... Militaristic? A militaristic patriarchal society would just make more sense personally.
Though just out of the gate shadow heart is obviously the best, being in a role that actually makes sense for a woman (cleric) and is like, the only normal person in the party without any weird **** going on (aside from the cult stuff)
I don't mind githyankis being girl bosses and fighters as much as other races because they're psionic space frogs who've been waging a crusade for their entire history. I can accept that their males and females are biologically closer. And also if you listen to her dialogues about the silver sword, she says it uses the psionic powers of its user to basically strike by itself, and if you look at how she holds the sword, she doesn't physically hold it, she uses telekinesis. My Lae'zel build was Wild Magic Barbarian + pact of the blade GOO Warlock so I could dump strength and still use the silver greatsword and it felt right. And Lae'zel was a cute tsundere.
And Shadowheart was perfect yeah, cute face, cute voice, edgy but it's a trauma hiding a loving personality and you can literally fix her. Some people speak of **** **** but I only saw the opposite. Like when I approached the drow whores in the brothel with Shadowheart in my party she said she'd rather have our first night together with just us two. Also she made the ending a lot more impactful because my character was an oath of the ancients paladin and I had planned for him to stop adventuring and live with his Shadowife and her parents in her cottage near nature and surrounded by animals, so the sacrifice to save the world felt like a real sacrifice and not just "That's a wrap! End of the movie, the characters had no future anyway, doesn't matter what happens".

Liberal writers enjoy using traditional women as lures for straight men and then bringing the subversive trite guillotine down. Bioshock Infinite is the most infamous example of using a nubile white woman to break down its end game message that you should ************* for being white. Having played this trash till the end of Act 2, I can confidently say Shadowheart is bait in its purest form. Dig enough and you discover her outward desires for cuckoldry and threesomes, lack of earthly attachments, etc. Oddly enough, she mirrors Leliana from Dragon Age: Origins in many ways, but lacks the believable faith. Neither is she repentant for her sins, it's all very fast and loose. Men can do better than trying to fix whores, and when that's your only real option presented in games, then we're in truly dire times.
This just means that the humans should behave like humans. It does not mean that the NON-HUMANS should behave like humans. If anything, the non-humans not behaving like humans is what defines them as non-human.TKVNC wrote: β August 9th, 2025, 07:13Verisimilitude. I get your takes on laezel and shadow heart, but I don't think the backstory to personality ratio wasn't that bad for karlach, she was only mostly just on the battlefield killing other demons, not like she was personally tortured, plus her backstory makes it so she's a virgin, not just physically but also romantically which was cute.swbgtoc wrote: β August 9th, 2025, 08:00Karlach's only redeeming quality is her face. Do they actually do anything bisexual? I thought they were strictly herosexual. Speaking of Karlach, I learned she could be turned into a mind flayer instead of us so I reloaded. And I cast disguise self but it made her disappear from cutscenes and people still recognize her as illithid which is lame, that spell is completely pointless in this game.

I'm done with this game. Really, delete it from my PC. This is the first game I've abandoned because of its characters and plot. The plot is superficial, devoid of any interesting conflict or dynamism, and seems like it was created by a redditor with a negative IQ. The characters are repulsive. That's it. Seriously. I just have no desire to travel on a campaign with these jerks who are literal self-inserts of woke morons. I am not a fan of homo-perversions; "polyamory," to me, is a mockery of true love and human relationships as a concept. I see nothing exciting, beautiful, or believable in this game. Just the fantasies of distorted, superficial people, deeply shallow and the complete opposite of what a world of sword and magic should be. But I abandoned the game not only because of that. It's also just poorly made. I started a new run and tried to act outside the game's rules, and it immediately started to break.
There's a scripted event where a Goblin kills my character with a boulder, even though I had the cloak of invisibility (The Deathstalker Mantle) beforehand and no sight checks occurred as I approached him. Then, before entering the ruined temple of Selune, I dismiss Shadowheart to go wherever she wants for not telling me she worships Shar; she leaves with the artifact, but the artifact is mentioned as if I have it during the conversation with the hobgoblin. If, after all that, you go to Withers, he won't be in the sarcophagus, but after the very first rest, he shows up in your camp without introducing himself. And Shadowheart, who supposedly left, is there with him. At that point, I snapped and deleted the game. This is not an RPG. It's a linear movie-like experience that lacks any actual cinematic quality.
The only things this piece of crap has going for it are the graphics and some of the music. But overall, it's terrible. I don't understand why this became popular. No, not even that. The very fact that this became popular is a death sentence for the genre. Zero out of ten.

You sure you installed the right game? I cant remember any goblin with a boulder which would insta kill you. I neither remember a hobgoblin and I also dont remember any ruined selune temple in act1 unless its that thing where shadowheart hammers at the door at the beach? Yeah you cant get completly rid of her unless you kill her and then you have to take the artifact with you. Only once you are in act2 (the shadow zone) most companions perish if you havent taken them with you and you also cant leave the first area without the artifact. Also it takes a while until shadowheart opens up and tells you she worships shar, think you either need to be very nice to her or gift her a statue from the underdark area. Which was the best area in the game I think.Trickster wrote: β September 4th, 2025, 21:16I'm done with this game. Really, delete it from my PC. It's also just poorly made. I started a new run and tried to act outside the game's rules, and it immediately started to break.
There's a scripted event where a Goblin kills the main character with a boulder, even though I had the cloak of invisibility beforehand and no sight checks occurred as I approached him.
