I clicked expecting this thread to be about the decline in standards for beta testing.

What I can't wrap my head around is the fact it's showcased for over a year on youtube, and has a patreon with the recommended tier being $13.50 a month (+ VAT in EU). Who is paying 150 bucks a year for access to a beta demo of a middling tps?

Tired of pandering to the ***** audience.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

I hope it's good but it seems very ambitious. There's another first-person mech game that's supposed to come out soon:

It's an interesting game. The dev has adopted an antic disposition on xitter, which is mildly amusing as well.
I wish the demo parkour course had a couple of pointers on how to proceed, though.

I shall patiently await to be disappointed.

apparently people who played the playtests said it was promising. Gameplay loop btw is going to resemble something like Tarkov except more job focused, with social hubs and stuff outside of the combat zones

Why is every game "dark dystopian" "dark sci fi" or "dark fantasy" these days? Are young millenials/old zoomers that miserable? It's like we are in a less interesting version of the 90s

I think you may be right in the sense that many game developers these days might just be overly depressed and are venting out in the games they make.

But I think an extra reason on top of that could also be that modern devs are lazy and are just copy-pasting what has worked before, like Dark Souls, the Dark Souls copies, and the recent 40k games.

The problem is that it is rarely good "dark" but le "dark" reddit slop intended to serve redditors and their ilk their own ******** fantasies: "yep that's what we gonna end up in now that drumpf rules and we will never achieve a sufficient amount of {chopped dicks, communism, furries, low temperatures/quaxxrates,...} got go cry about it on the internet"

"dark sci fi" is the optimistic future, and God willing, we can get it there instead of a cyberpozzed future

Based on the description it sounds like Starfield if it had a proper identity for its setting (and is hopefully actually engaging). We’ve seen this kind of thing promised many times before, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

I really like the notion of the player piloting the mech by messing with the its internal controls instead of controlling the mech as if it were a "character" of its own. It seems like almost like a bundle of minigames but I don't hate it. I don't play mech games beyond AC so I don't know if this is a new or novel concept.

Apparently this is old footage and isn't anything that wasn't shown in previous gameplay vids, just more of it.

Dark Souls isn't depressed. It is all about hope and persistence.
