What is your favorite villain ensemble group?

Post by Val the Moofia Boss »

*You can vote for as many groups as you want.

**Listing this in the JRPG section since these cohesive uniformed villain organizations seem to mainly appear in Far East Asian works

These groups rarely make sense due to how much infighting there is, their inexplicable resources and secret supply chains that can't be tracked, high risk of infiltration/defection and leaks, etc. They also almost always are there to pad out the runtime of the series with a lot of filler struggles against fodder villain lieutenants without advancing the plot. But they are cool.

I have omitted smaller groups like the Sith, the Torna, the Stellaron Hunters, etc since there are too few of them at a time. And stuff like the Batman's Rogues Gallery or the Seven Warlords since they are not even pretending to be apart of the same faction.

List of the groups below with pictures and some music.

The Ascian rewrite to fit the Shadowbringers story was genuinely nice. It was presented in such a way that it leaves a nice memory of the journey (unlike the trash of today).

As for another group not listed here, I liked the Hammerites from the original Thief trilogy. A group of religious zealots carrying big *** hammers and praising their Lord (they call him the "Builder"). They dealt with criminals as we should today : lie ? cut out his tongue. Steal ? burn his hands in boiled water and crush them with the hammer. I don't remember what they did to the prostitute in prison but I think they did something to her face or boobs.

Their enemies, the Pagans, are pretty cool too. Basically they are druid madmen who want to return to a more primal state, with any technological advance deemed disgusting and unnatural (like buildings made of stone lol).

None of the Nazguls have any personalities and there are like a billion examples of these from comic books you didn't list

Agree about the Nazgul. Why don't you list some of the comic book examples?

And they had the best mounts.

Before I stopped I swapped to Alliance because I just couldn't with the BFA World Quest and Sylvanus or Nathanos (Danuser self-insert) ******** on you every day.

The Alliance is definitely not great but the races and cities are nice. They lack some serious grit, if they had some, it would have made them way more cool.

I did enjoy the Gotei 13 quite a bit, though they were (mostly) not villains. The Soul Society arc had a lot of ******** time wasting fights, but it was fun learning more about the captains as they were introduced and revealed their powers. They were pretty memorable. I thought it was funny that the ninja captain lady's bankai turned out to be a giant nuke, which was so contrary to her style that she hated using it. Too bad she never got to use it effectively on screen, at least as far as I watched.

Queen of course.

I always liked Turks from FF7, if only for their sharp suits and main music. They are like option traders with crowbars.

They do have biographies in Russian fanfic "Black book of Arda". It was pretty popular in the nineties.

I cannot recall any groups I would say I particularly like as I tend to appreciate the singular characters more than the entire group. Of those listed, I know the Fatui and, thus far, am liking them all, but I picked Others as well as Acrux reminded me of Team Rocket, and I quite agree!
Another that comes to mind is the Digimon one, but I have too faint memories of them to really speak of them. I only recall that I quite liked their base where the white cat Digimon switches sides if I recall correctly?, and how they forced Agumon to become that skeletal evolution.
I know I know many others, but my mind truly cannot picture any as a team unless my memory is jogged, so to speak. One that came to mind that I say I enjoyed was the many villains that banded together in Icewind Dale I.

I barely know about them because I've never read comics.

Out of these options I say Ouroboros, even if they peaked ages ago. They were so cool in Sky and Zero
