Do you realize that the pin for Crystals of Arborea is the Simarils company's logo and has nothing to do with the game? Think of the shame this has brought Admiral @Tangerine.
Also, over time I've come to think the pixel art look is enough to differentiate the different AGs, and some of them could look better by not sticking so closely to the "kite shield" idea.
So I propose updating this pin.

I think it looks really good, even if it isn't related to the game itselfJ1M wrote: ↑ July 17th, 2025, 03:29@rusty_shackleford

I think it looks quite alright as it is. If it must be changed for any reason I am quite liking both of those that show the crystals myself.J1M wrote: ↑ July 17th, 2025, 03:29@rusty_shackleford

Edit: just for the record, I'd rather keep this one myself though. Even if things change or get updated, I rather keep it as it is

Since nobody who has played Starwind chimed in with more ideas, did you prefer the original badge based on the mod's logo?J1M wrote: ↑ January 30th, 2025, 23:19Pretty valid point. In the interest of starting a largely pointless discussion, I wonder if pins for mods should have their own distinguishing style, such as being sepia tone or black and white.Oyster Sauce wrote: ↑ January 30th, 2025, 23:16Personally I don't think Starwind, a ~2023 Morrowind mod, needs to have a pixel art badge.

As previously discussed, this one is difficult. The only other idea I have is to use the Morrowind logo plus lightsaber icon.

The company logo looks neat, but I prefer the one with the crystal and dark background since it's specific to the game.J1M wrote: ↑ July 17th, 2025, 03:29@rusty_shackleford

Wasn't a fan of the original badge with the mod's logo, as it's not clear what it is. Looks like purple sludge at that resolution. The Morrowind + lightsaber one seems more fitting.J1M wrote: ↑ July 17th, 2025, 05:22Since nobody who has played Starwind chimed in with more ideas, did you prefer the original badge based on the mod's logo?J1M wrote: ↑ January 30th, 2025, 23:19Pretty valid point. Looks like we'll keep the Arborea pin as is.
I think we should go ahead with updating the Starwind pin. I don't think anyone loved the current one and there haven't been any objections.

Precedent has been set for using the base game's logo as a background with an icon representing the mod on top.J1M wrote: ↑ January 30th, 2025, 23:19Pretty valid point. I don't like the Arcanum badge, but before I played the game I didn't have ideas for anything better that I could execute at the size needed. As previously discussed in the Arcanum thread, using one of the symbols that combines the gear and the magic icon would be nice, but it just isn't legible at 22px. Plus the official versions of these icons use some rather harsh color choices.

I propose we update the Arcanum pin to one of these alternatives that are a better fit because it feels wrong that we are using the icon for "auto-level plans" when I doubt anyone here ever used them.

True, it's hard to find a proper stylization of the Arcanum icon. I like this one but it has a writing above: I like the crafting icon one from the list above.J1M wrote: ↑ July 28th, 2025, 05:17Plus the official versions of these icons use some rather harsh color choices.

I think the current icon is fine because it's depicts the "magic and technology" idea better than the proposed alternatives. Neither of them have the "magic" element.J1M wrote: ↑ July 28th, 2025, 05:17I don't like the Arcanum badge, but before I played the game I didn't have ideas for anything better that I could execute at the size needed. I consider myself more of a high-concept guy than a pixel pusher, but it was clear I needed to do some hand-editing for this one. For your consideration:

Although my opinion probably isn't important since I specifically avoid getting badges.

What if you scaled it up so that the top and bottom of the gear are clipped, but the center symbol would then be bigger/more legible?Statesman wrote: ↑ July 29th, 2025, 00:29Honestly, I still prefer the original (easier to read+doesn't look like the Starwind badge).J1M wrote: ↑ July 28th, 2025, 21:15Thanks for the feedback @Tadeusz @logincrash @Kalarion @Stack of Turtles @Statesman.

I myself like the "paper", so to speak, aesthetic, but the colored ones are quite nice as well.
If I had to choose, the one posted by Statesman (middle and perhaps rightmost one as well) I think would be worth looking into but making it have the lightning from the one J1M posted above (blue colored) that goes through the gear.

It's fifth for me, don't remember the previous order but I think the place is right. I quite like this new badge!
I have one marked as a favorite until earn another AG classic pin so the pins from the same franchise appear on the same horizontal row. Mine may not be a good reference.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ August 1st, 2025, 16:35Not sure why but it's displaying first for @J1M. Is it out of order for anyone else?
