Those adventuring groups seem to be 50% negresses.
Definitely darker skinned, but you can customize all party members, I think.

A peculiar game. The developer will only allow limited customization and has some sort of fixation on bare feet.
Example: you may name your character anything, but everyone will refer to you as "Len" no matter what.
As to the feet thing, you can craft various armors, including what would normally be armored boots, but they stop at the ankle:

This is while exploring caves with lava and acid slime, among other hazards. And an arctic biome outdoors.
The developer has been asked and has stated that he will never, under any circumstances, make "Len" wear anything on his feet.
Oh, and you can give "Len" a woman's name, a woman's haircut, and a woman's clothes, but he will look like a ****** because you can only use the lanky male body for "Len".
Because "Len" is, apparently, the developer's character and you can go **** yourself.
I find it all very weird.

I tried the demo for a bit and found the combat fairly simplistic. But for the price, I can't exactly expect the world. I'm always a bit hesitant about EA titles, but to the devs' credit, they appear to be consistently releasing updates.

Knew who it was as soon as I saw the first screenshot.
Did not wish to go off topic so I moved it to here as I wanted to say that I really love this feature in games and it is next to addictive to me to explore a map just to clear the fog awayrusty_shackleford wrote: β July 2nd, 2025, 17:46https://steamcommunity.com/app/684690/d ... 739755460/https://docs.gridcartographer.com/edito ... remove-fogWhat you do is draw a map of the whole game, cover it in fog (in invisible mode) and then have the avatar marker erase that fog as it moves around, creating the illusion of the map being drawn in.

Thank you for existing!
I'm surprised there isn't more than just Tweed mentioning this game.
It's ugly but it's like a simulation Daggerfall, from what I can see.

I was hoping people would notice by my making many threads that it's completely ok to make new threads for stuff you want to discuss

I've not actually played it, but I'm watching some gameplay in the background.

OwlCat is making the Expanse game and Dark Heresy, Larian have said they're making two smaller games before going for something with the scope of BG3 again.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: β July 8th, 2025, 23:44Are there any high production value WRPGs in development? How far out are they? Besides the next Witcher and Mass Effect. Anet is making GW3 but I don't think there is a lot of money being pumped into that. Is Larian making an original IP RPG to rival BG3?
I can't really think of any other big developers that are working on anything significant. Obsidian and inXile have made themselves utterly irrelevant and Greedfall 2 probaly killed any chance Spiders had to enter the big leagues.

Yeah, Larian's probably making another Divinity game.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: β July 8th, 2025, 23:44Are there any high production value WRPGs in development? How far out are they? Bethesda is doing TES VI I guess..?
inXile with Clockwork out eventually.
Obsidian with The Outer Worlds 2 this October.
Owlcat with The Expanse
I imagine Warhorse will keep at it after the KCD 2 DLC.
New Fable I guess....?
That's it, there were never a large number of big RPG devs. It looks like Eidos Montreal doesn't make full games anymore, they're co-developing both Fable and Grounded 2.
Yes, but I don't imagine they'll keep at it for too long - KCD2 died within the month of release, absolutely nobody is talking about it now, and the release of the first big DLC barely increased daily playercounts.

Strange how they are making ownership of a previous expansion a requirement to access content in another expansion, when previously GW2 did not do that. You did not need to own HoT to access PoF's elite specs. You did not need to own PoF to get the Jade Turtle mount in EoD. Ofcourse, if you have made it through the original dragon story and are still buying these smaller expacs then you are probably going to get them all anyway, but it is still odd.
Train new elite specializations, master new skills, face deadly encounters, and more as you explore the magical island of Castora. Highlights
Adventure on an Unknown Island
Tyria's leaders are apprehensive about rumors of the Inquiry's secret voyages to Castora, an island so remote it has long been considered inaccessible, if not nonexistent. The risks involved prevent all but the most tenacious (and perhaps reckless) pursuers from investigating the Inquiry's plan. At launch, your race to uncover the Inquiry's plot will take you to two new open-world regions teeming with magical energies and strange creatures. Two additional maps will open as the story continues over the course of a year.
During your travels, you'll unlock three new Mastery tracks, including one for your Skimmer mount that unlocks new and updated abilities. The new region also brings new adventures, collections, and themed rewards. Players who own Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity and Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds will be able to unlock the new map, Castoran Homestead.
New Elite Specializations
A new elite specialization for each profession will unlock new traits, profession mechanics, and healing, utility, and elite abilities. Further enhance your build by acquiring new themed relics throughout your adventures in Castora. Work toward six legendary rewards: three new legendary weapons, a ring, an accessory, and a respirator.
Deadly Encounters
Castora's magically imbued landscape is home to all manner of strange and twisted wildlife. Two of the three major updates coming in 2026 will pit players against the island's most powerful inhabitants in Raid Encounters (including Challenge Modes and a Legendary Mode) and a new Convergence. Along with the first of the new Raid Encounters, new system updates will make raids easier to access. A Fractal with a Challenge Mode will also launch with the expansion's final major update.
New Features and Rewards
New emotes, armor, weapons, recipes, and other exclusive rewards await those who brave the dangers of Castora, and seasonal updates to the Wizard's Vault will bring additional options for unique cosmetic rewards throughout the expansion. To support the addition of a new Homestead map, we're introducing two additional features. The first, the ability to freely switch between the Janthiri and Castoran maps, is supported by the second feature, Layouts. Layouts create a file that you can use to save, load, share, and edit decoration arrangements.
Looks like they are bringing back Rytlock (Steve Blum). It's neat that they are doing a serious Asura villain, but the Inquest tech glows too much to be taken very seriously.
Visually the expansion land looks meh. It's just some random tropical island using what feels like thrown together Vanilla assets. Doesn't look memorable. The concept art on the thumbnail looks much more interesting.
It depends on what you mean by "act like men". The way I see it, there's only good behavior and bad behavior, and while you may be conditioned to tolerate certain bad behaviors in men differently from women, these are still bad behaviors. Good behaviors are universal.
A woman being submissively compliant is a good thing. A man doing so is, at best, a neutral thing. A woman acting like a boor is worse than a man acting like a boor. A man acting catty is worse than a woman acting catty. There are behavioral expectations based on your sex and straying from those expectations can make good behavior bad and bad behavior worse.Norfleet wrote: β July 15th, 2025, 21:51It depends on what you mean by "act like men". Following orders is good thing. Good soldiers follow orders. Unless you're being told to do something that's a warcrime. Then maybe don't.Tangerine wrote: β July 15th, 2025, 22:31A woman being submissively compliant is a good thing. A man doing so is, at best, a neutral thing.
Yes, and these are examples of bad behaviors we are more tolerant of in specific sexes, but this does not make EITHER one a good behavior.Tangerine wrote: β July 15th, 2025, 22:31A woman acting like a boor is worse than a man acting like a boor. You know very well that "submissively compliant" has connotations beyond following orders.Norfleet wrote: β July 15th, 2025, 22:33Following orders is good thing. Good soldiers follow orders. Irrelevant. A woman engaging is male bad behavior is still more unacceptable.Norfleet wrote: β July 15th, 2025, 22:33Yes, and these are examples of bad behaviors we are more tolerant of in specific sexes, but this does not make EITHER one a good behavior.Tangerine wrote: β July 15th, 2025, 22:31A woman acting like a boor is worse than a man acting like a boor. If you mean "being a doormat", that's another example of bad behavior with biased tolerance rather than good behavior.Tangerine wrote: β July 15th, 2025, 22:39You know very well that "submissively compliant" has connotations beyond following orders.
Maybe to you. I operate unacceptability on a strict binary. I don't want any of these things, I don't need this **** in my life.Tangerine wrote: β July 15th, 2025, 22:39Irrelevant. A woman engaging is male bad behavior is still more unacceptable.
