Controller support for PC games
Controller support for PC games
When did this become normalized? It seems like nearly every game that comes out now it optimized for controller over keyboard/mouse. And games that have no or poor controller support get negative reviews.
So, when you get older, you will discover the joys of carpal-tunnel syndrome. When you do you will very much appreciate this option.Acrux wrote: ↑ September 15th, 2023, 20:33When did this become normalized? I am older, and I hate that option.
sometimes it feels better to play a game while sitting on a sofa instead of a gaymer chair but I don't do this very often.
i only have controllers because most splitscreen coop games require them.

The problem isn't that the option exists, is that games are being optimized for controllers. The dev resources, the UI/navigation/UX are consolized, etc. makes for a bad experience for those of us who primarily use keyboard and mouse. And it's weird to NOT design for the standard controls of the past 40-odd years.
I bought an Xbox Controller for my PC but I've yet to use it for any games. Will use it for Elden Ring when I get round to playing it. But yeah I must say I found it rather odd when I was playing RE Village that the controls even on the PC version seemed to be controller-oriented. Thats a FPS game btw.

PC gaming has always been cool. Streamers made it look gay, so the **** migrated.Segata Sanshiro wrote: ↑ September 15th, 2023, 21:11When consolefags made the jump to PC because streamers made it look cool
Weirdest cracker you know.
Now days you can stream your PC game onto a big TV and game on the couch. Sitting on a couch playing on a big TV used to be an exclusively console advantage, and now consoles have literally no advantages over PCs.
If the game needs precision pointing/aiming, I prefer a K&M, but for games that don't need it, I prefer a controller.

@rusty_shackleford - new forum rule requested: anyone who admits to using a controller for PC gaming has immediate HQ account deactivation.
If a game can be played with a controller, then it's not a good game.
Yeah, the idea that kb+m is better than all games is the attitude of a stagnated industry. Go for innovation, it gave us the steel battalion controller. The idea that we have the best control scheme already is a sure sign of small thinkin'. Games are best when developers are big thinkin' and trying new things. Unless you want your 34,000,000th soulslike roguelike metroidvania survival game.
I almost exclusively use a controller to play games.
The only times when I use keyboard and mouse is when the game is designed for it, (usually because of badly-designed icon-based inventory management hassle), like the recent Baldur's Gate 3 or a RTwP game like one of the Pillars games. Otherwise I prefer using a controller.
I have a nice controller collection and have spent hundreds of dollars buying different ones because I love them so much. I like having them on my desk near me so I can just pick them up and press the buttons even when I'm not playing anything. I love controllers a lot.

Is a flight stick a controller or a keyboard?
Was deeply disappointed after buying one to learn that basically all games designed for them are simulations.

Free demo available. I played through the demo, it's fairly well done, and would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes dungeon crawlers.
