Do party members count as protagonists? I would only consider Cloud the protagonist of FF7.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

I refuse to aknowledge Xenoblades are from Monolith soft. ******* trash games, litteral mockery of Gears and Saga.DDC wrote: ↑ June 27th, 2025, 04:31I hated that ****** so much in the previews, both his voice and ridiculous design. But in the last dungeon, I found him sort of redeemed and almost bordering on likeable for a brief slice of the game. Ironically, I had been looking forward to XC3 a lot more because it had been billed as a return to the Xenogears vibe, but the cast was completely bland and soulless. Somehow XC2 ended up having better characters than XC3, which is NOT a result I would have expected (and not really an endorsement of XC2 either). What an undeservedly popular failure of a series.Vaako wrote: ↑ May 3rd, 2025, 00:04The main character from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 its like you play a gay shy midget with terrible art design but for some reason you have harem of anime girls. Even tho the character is unlikeable.
Xenosaga for one has better cutscenes, and I don't think the cinematography matters much if the characters are unlikeable and the story is bad. It's just an indication of what might have been if the writing was better. Then you have some nice environments that get kneecapped by the absolutely atrocious resolution the games run at, and they don't have anything interesting to do in them anyways and running around them takes forever. The only thing I would say they are in the upper echelon of is modern JRPGs, but that's because the competition is bad and good JRPGs aren't made anymore. Even something like Star Ocean Second Story R is a lot more fun, and that game wasn't even top-tier when the original version came out.Val the Moofia Boss wrote: ↑ June 27th, 2025, 04:44The series has good wilderness environment art for a modern JRPG series, and has very, very good cutscene cinematography. I am hard pressed to think of any other cinematic styled JRPG with cutscenes as engaging besides FF12. It's not the bestest thing ever but it is in the upper echelon of JRPGs.
