What is the most unlikeable protagonist you have played as?

No RPG elements? It probably goes here!

That I endured till I finish? Or only played briefly? If only played briefly, most JRPG protagonists like Van, Cloud and etc. All androgynous teenagers with oversized swords saving the world.

Trevor and Michael from GTA 5. ******* hated them both while Franklin was a inoffensive ***** that just wanted away from his ****** surroundings and just live like a person.
Trevor's intro being to kill a likable protagonist from the previous game pretty much immediately guaranteed I would hate him forever.

Interesting. Van Arkride? I have seen a lot of praise for him from Westerners who seem to dislike "stereotypical" JRPG protagonists like Rean, because Van is older and sometimes gets to kill a fodder villain. What did you dislike about him?

Nope. Van from FF12.

In anime, they do have some great protagonists, I love for eg, Kazuma from Kaze no Stigma, one of my favorite animes, but in JRPGs, every protagonist in a scale of uniqueness where 0 is Kirito and 10 is the most unique protagonist ever, always fall into 0, 1 or 2.

Lesbian female protag (They creating them only for "owned male" "not all women belongs to you te-he" or for ****** fanservise for tumblr whores. Both reasons are pathetic). Self-insert self-victimized female protagonists. Take a rape victim, for example. It’s an extremely serious topic that could add tragic depth to a character (Take Guts from Berserk for example) — but instead, female authors make it their protagonist’s entire personality. They hyper-fixate on the assault just to push that disgusting, false ideology of ‘all men are pigs.’

Jack Carver from Far Cry 1, this has more thing to do with how worthless he is though, dude speaks likes a jerk while being the objective weakest character in the game. Every enemies can run & gun and no scope you from 300 feet away, while the player character moves like a snail can't run for more than 20 feet without exhausting, and has a sway as if he has epilepsy.

Ethan Winters in RE8 is extremely insufferable for most of the game and as someone who at least kind of found the concept of RE7 being a normal guy thrown into a Resident Evil scenario it's sort of turned me against him pretty hard. From the intro he comes across as an absolutely longhoused *** and it doesn't get much better as the game goes on. He acts perpetually confused about everything around him even though he spent an entire game dealing with ****** up mold zombies, a woman with a beehive pussy, and a 7ft tall immortal cajun already.

It gets really really ******* bad towards the end when Heisenberg, one of the four lords he's supposed to take down to get back the pieces of his daughter actually offers to make an alliance and as a show of good will even tells him where one of the parts are without fighting him. Not only does Ethan sit in a chair literally 3 inches away from an obvious trap door, not only does he act belligerent from the get go, but he doesn't even hear out what Heisenberg's plan is and just immediately says "**** you" like a petulant ****** at the mere mention that his daughter might be the key to stopping Mother Miranda.

At least HEAR HIM OUT so that he can have a moment where it's obvious his plan will be bad for Rose or he's also a ****** up evil guy with ****** up evil plans. Ethan basically pisses off a guy trying to help him who has ******** Magneto metal powers and an entire army of weird cyborg monsters (that he now has to fight!) for no real reason. Heisenberg even gives him one last chance to accept the offer before throwing him down the aforementioned trap door and he still says some DMC reboot tier petulant line.

And even then up to the very end Heisenberg after turning into his stupid big dumb metal form just throws Ethan out and tells him to **** off instead of just killing him. The game does very little to actually make it clear why we shouldn't view Ethan as a ****** for spurning what could have been an IMMENSE ally to save his daughter.

The main character from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 its like you play a gay shy midget with terrible art design but for some reason you have harem of anime girls. Even tho the character is unlikeable.
I hated that ****** so much in the previews, both his voice and ridiculous design. But in the last dungeon, I found him sort of redeemed and almost bordering on likeable for a brief slice of the game. Ironically, I had been looking forward to XC3 a lot more because it had been billed as a return to the Xenogears vibe, but the cast was completely bland and soulless. Somehow XC2 ended up having better characters than XC3, which is NOT a result I would have expected (and not really an endorsement of XC2 either). What an undeservedly popular failure of a series.

The series has good wilderness environment art for a modern JRPG series, and has very, very good cutscene cinematography. I am hard pressed to think of any other cinematic styled JRPG with cutscenes as engaging besides FF12. It's not the bestest thing ever but it is in the upper echelon of JRPGs.
