Never saw them standing in line in hardware shops where you could test games for free, back then when the snes was new. And while there were like 2 woman in my family which occasionally played some nintendo games, they grow out of it pretty fast. And the one who kept playing games takes male hormones now and looks like a man.

Well of course, now it's not.

That said, it's good that indies are doing more girl specific and also guy specific titles. There should be both. AAA's are of course a lost cause.

It still gives them the ick, but they can ***** for attention and fleeced simps out of their money.

The simple truth is that women don't have hobbies and never had, everything they do is an attempt to garner attention.

Womens hobbies are running their mouths, and competing for male attention. That is it.

Men are free to do as they please.

Overall not much has changed, that is true but with advent of social gaming (MMOs) and some outliers that would not have existed without gaming becoming mainstream we have a few females interested in the Hobbies.

Nothing to do with "diversity" though it's still basically fully male dominated.

(He's wrong about their being able to play 'just as well', though.)

Edit: I'll add that I know exactly one female tabletop RPG player who actually has a talent for rules, mechanics, and design. I would be shocked if there were more than a handful of women like her in the entire world.

True, but those women would have been interested, and many of them have been interested, in gaming well before it became "welcoming" and "diverse".

There has never actually been a barrier that prevented women from participating in gaming, or realistically, most other male hobbies - most women simply have zero interest in any of it.

You mean the thread title? That's normal for titles in English.

As WhiteShark said, it's normal.

It's called 'Title Case'.

Man I miss his take on things. LARPers were a ******* cancer to the game.

just dug up some old footage from GDC 1998.

At 1:51, the conference director mentions noticing more women attending this time around. She says most devs and attendees tend to be male, and that having more women in game development helps create games everyone can enjoy.

Seems like they were always on the DEI bandwagon back then. I’ll give her credit for not framing it like women were being systematically blocked from working in the industry.

I only knew one woman (a mom) who was really into games, to the point of having been a QA tester for the original FF14 1.0, is a retail FF11 player with one of those grindy ultimate weapons, played Elden Ring, etc. Otherwise, it was just teenagers who played Pokemon, Nintendogs, or Nancy Drew.

I sometimes feel like I don’t have much in common with my coworkers, old school friends, or Gen z in general.

They use weird, almost alien terms, are into disgusting rap music, seem oddly okay with things like infidelity, and don’t put much thought into how they dress.

There’s barely anyone I can talk to about old movies, classic literature, or proper video games. Most of the ones I know aren’t into the first two and just play normie stuff like Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, or whatever fotm AAA **** is out.

I used to browse 4chan to find like minded people, but it’s still a degenerate cesspool. I still bump into disturbing pedo filth on /vr/.

Male dominated and always has been.

You'd think dating sims market for example would be highly dominated by women right? Nope, romance games are a male genre too.

There were women and ******* involved in gaming and tabletop before they became mainstream, but they were a minority. It's hard to give exact numbers but probably something around 95% white males and the rest being women, ****, nigs and whatever.
