Removing copyright protections from companies products that they no longer choose to support may be a possible avenue to curb this issue. A sort of "use it or lose it" type of thing.
Personally, I think that any company that discontinues a product, regardless of what it is, should lose rights to it.
There may be some "specific" cases where there may be an exception, but I think the general rule is a good approach. It doesn't force companies to do anything, it merely keeps various industries from buying up various IPs and sitting on them, never producing anything.
I always thought copyright law was just a scam anyway.
I agree but that would require changing copyright laws which is next to impossible to do especially in the states.
So you the problem now then right? There is no legal solution where the consumer wins. The result of any "law" or "regulation" will be that of giving more power to the state and the corporations that control it.
The only means to fixing these problems is the reduction of laws to the point where the corporation no longer has the power to use the law for its purpose. When that happens, you will have a truly free and competitive market, something that hasn't existed for over a 100 years or more.

If there are any means to change copyright right to it’s original vision I’m all for it , however all legal means to this has failed ( companies like Disney has made sure of it.)
What I suggest in previous comments is enforcing consumer protection laws that is already in the books that can be used. The live service game issue hasn’t brought up in court due to being a legal grey area.
legal precedence Is already been established with copyright law but not yet with live service games so there is a higher chance ro challenging it and bringing a positive outcome or at the very least be able get a clear cut answer whatever or not consumers have rights for live service product being terminated without notice when payed for.

The system is corrupt and broken, there really is no means to solve it through its own rules. Legal precedence is a perfect example of this and has invalidated constitutional law. Not to be a black pill, but you can't win a monopoly game playing against the bank. Nothing will happen unless the corporations approve it and you know they never will.
I prefer solving problems over fantasizing about solutions that'll only make things worse. It would genuinely be better to completely redirect away from the consumer protection law thing and become an advocacy group promoting the idea that people want to buy games they can keep.
You don't think this movement makes people aware of how companies can take games away from them? You don't think that will make people think twice about buying games like that?
no, all it did was give ubisoft a PR boost for making blatant lies they won't keep
good job, you helped sell more copies of the new crew games
Watching Ross update video was deeply black pilling. I glad he efficiently wash his hands from the campaign because by god he doing such a herculean feat in such an initiative( money, time, organizing ,massive lost of revenue)
He got as far as he could, no one could ask him for more. The industry is as rotten as it gets and if nothing else, his attempt revealed a lot about the anti-consumer practices in North America and how the system fundamentally is opposed to fixing itself, unless you're very wealthy and connected. Which none of us are. For us that's not much of a revelation, but to the average person I'm sure it's a surprise that the safety net isn't as safe as they believe.

Not going to watch this but I assume the core issue that prevented any progress is that he's ******* ugly

The real issue is, is that he is occupied 80% of the time by saying "I am the wrong person" "i don't want to do it" "I tried a lot nothing worked" "i want other people to do it" "i am the wrong person for the job".
He has the right of it, but the petition lost because the ******** opposition has no qualms about stating their **** in uncompromising terms (and lying) without any remorse.
Resident Anti-feminist MRA, Race-mixer and no I'm not woke and not gay. Married with children, My writing style is shit, live with it or ignore me.

All he had to do was pay a hot woman to pretend it was her campaign
What line do you mean? I just think we should kill more games.
The "We Must Kill More To Find Out Why" line. It's a major meme in one of my circles that gets brought up often. I'm wondering if it has osmosed or if you drew it from the same original source. Or did you just come up with it on your own?

I have a huge amount of respect for Ross for everything he gone through. Really punching way above his weight and going well beyond what many people would do.
