Probably worth pointing out that the community patch for NWN2 is xboxhueg and I doubt any of the fixes will actually be included because developers seem to be ******** about bugs

No, it doesn't fix the base game being terrible.

I would get it mostly to play Mask of the Betrayer.

Hopefully when it does come out it will actually look better than the baseline game.

And to play Storm of Zehir. However, as @wndrbr pointed out, the graphix remake looks way worse than the original. Which, considering how mediocre/bad the original looked, it's a feat in itself.

No, it doesn't fix the base game being terrible.
I played all of NWN, the expansions, and numerous fan modules. I never felt burned out (playing new content), or got bored with the game.

Then, when NWN 2 came out, I tried... got bored in the first part of the game and I have tried to play the **** thing numerous times over the years, but I just can't get very far it sucks so bad.

How do they go from a good solid game and engine to a steaming pile of **** like that, I just don't get it.

Funnily enough, if there is one thing that I believe NWN2 did better than the original was the addition of the Quickcast menu for spellcaster builds.

But I think that was the sole upgrade, because there are indeed several areas where I preferred the NWN system and mechanics over the ones from NWN2.

I also didn't care for the fact that the map size was greatly reduced compared to NWN. It was rather big complaint at the time. For me, it made the game feel... small, almost like it was playing a shooter running through mini-zone to zone.

Regarding NWN2 & IWD2, Beamdog has always claimed to have lost the source code. Never a straight forward answer from them.

Not even Burger Bill could find the IWD2 source code a couple of years ago, and if anyone would have known where to look for it it's him. He was the unofficial archivist for Interplay for a long, long time

Some Indy basement dwellers came out with an unofficial EE for IWD2. Red Chimera I think.
