I'm a bit torn on this - on the one hand these supernatural elements add intrigue and are entertaining but on the other hand they clash with overall sci-fi feel. Oh well, there's already a magical radiation so I guess a little of supernatural occurrences won't hurt.

Ok, just bought the game on GoG because it was dirt cheap. Played the original but never finished, got kinda bored tbh, maybe 1.1 improved things or whatever. Store says I should finish ATOM because story but idgaf.

Trudograd may be played as a standalone game though it's still better to finish the original game as you can transfer your character with all the perks and stat increases. Stories of these 2 games are not that connected and there's little reactivity regarding the choices from the first game (endings only add certain rumors to dialogues which is not significant at all).

Worth noting that Trudograd is very easy, and if you import your character from the OG Atom you'll end up being overleveled.

Yeah, this was disappointing. ATOM difficulty ramped up the longer you played, then Trudograd had zero difficulty outside a couple fights.

But it's a direct story continuation, so…

@rusty_shackleford regarding the badge, an you apply some sorting so the ATOM RPG badges appear together like the Deus Ex ones?

So which member of the Adventurer's Guild do you guys think works at GOG? Very curious how many of the titles go on sale by 70% in conjunction with the voting.

Also the equipment progression in Trudograd is pretty much absent for certain builds.

I played as a sniper, and during the first half of the game i used a starting SKS because there weren't any other cool sniper weapons. Halfway through the game I switched to Type 63, which is basically SKS, but with a bigger mag capacity and a burst fire option.

Oof. I rolled a sniper too, but I'm considering restarting as autofire. I found a beautiful AK-47 super early and some mods to boot, but no ******* scope. And hearing the SKS will be all there is for half the game is disenheartening.

Ammo crafting in Trudograd is sometimes handy but mostly no, there's usually enough provisions from loot and if it's not enough, money is plenty. I crafted more in the original game as I liked healing powder more than the kasparamid.

Well, there's a third faction in both of ATOM games to suit this playstyle

Oh, he knows me better than I thought <3. My favorite thing about this game is that you can control click to force attack ANYONE, which is awesome. Anyway, train goes cho-CHOOO:

Finally got power armor this time. With this thing the game is even easier. I hope devs will work on the combat difficulty in the next ATOM installment. If there's a transfer of the player character to the next game we're going to start as overpowered right in the beginning.

Next installment is a ways off because they took a break to do their own take on baldur's gate

Yeah, they're working on Swordhaven, right? I wonder if enough people of their core team will remain to make the next ATOM RPG game. What was the development time of Trudograd by the way?

Only devs they've lost so far are a couple Russian animators after the war broke out AFAIK

That's impressive. Perhaps there's still hope for the third ATOM RPG installment :pipe-hat:
In the meantime it's possible to play mods (or make them :wizard: ). There's still very few mods but I found one story mod for the original ATOM game, maybe I'll try it later: https://www.nexusmods.com/atomrpg/mods/14
It seems abandoned though but there still must be some content.

If people are in the mood for more Russia + RPG, there's one with an urban fantasy spin on it called Night Watch from 2006 that was built in the Silent Storm engine. Might be hard to find though, since it is abandonware now and not on any digital stores.
