I don't like the expanse because the President of Earth is that jeeta with the hardcore smoker's voice. The latter is mostly irrelevant, I just can't accept a **** being put in charge.

Just took a quick peek at the setting, and the idea of a futuristic Earth vs Mars isn't exactly novel, but I seldom see many sci-fi settings tackle it.

Could be interesting if handled properly, but yeah the negress in the cover is a turn off.
Read the books (ignore the TV series). Earth vs Mars is just a minor part of the lore (there are three sides, actually, and they were not at (hot) war). There is much more to it, and it is one of the most realistic and grounded sci-fi settings I've ever seen.

So they can do some decent portraits for a change! Expanse though; the cute guy is probably gay. The cute girls are probably *****. And I'm sure somehow that hideously ugly crying black woman from the show will somehow be in it anyway ruining the whole thing.
They can afford to put decent portraits in the Expanse but I bet you there is going to be **** all in Dark Heresy.

The only thing I liked about the Expanse were all the characters you weren't supposed to root for like Murtry.
Everything else reeks of Game of Thrones mixed with Mass Effect but only all the cons and none of the pros. Modern sci fi settings without direct contact with a "Galactic Federation" or whatever sucks because it ends up being a tacit celebration of the "rigidly diverse cast!" and all that *********. Artistically, the Expanse looks disgusting, ******* sue me.
The first time they showed the Martians about to show up and kick ***, I was excited because I thought they were going to be based. Then they just turned out to be a bunch of ******* brown women for the most part.

I spent way too long failing to make a .gif of this, but I assure you the shot of the player being 3 feet tall is very funny

Maybe that guy is just your average Earther among Belters.

Expanse setting is pretty cool. But they will never let you lead Mars to victory in the game.

Show was drowning in diversity characters after season 1.

Not a sign of confidence since I’m guessing Owlcat will take more influence from the TV series instead of the books.

Completely surprised naomi isn't front and center, but I'm sure she'll be a major part anyways.

I assume that was true to the source material though, since the author does feel like one of those *****.

Any time Naomi was on screen I died a little inside, genuinely the shittiest character in the whole saga - single mother ****** sow with her half-**** spawn.

Here's hoping they at least do the ship combat justice. That was the best part of the show, besides the soundtrack.

To be fair, Earth has basically turned into India by that point, so having a proud Brahim woman in charge is to be expected.

The real issue with the actress is that she couldn't act for ****, and any time the script required her to be tough you could hear her struggling to speak the lines.

Meh. Looks generic and prerendered the trailer. Doubt it will even have the mystery appeal the show had with the protoplasma and its origin.

I still find it funny that the commander of the Donnager in the TV show was some old ***** midget.

How did she manage to be that short on a planet with a third of Earth's gravity? Hell, how did she manage to pass basic training?

Surely Mars can't be that desperate for military personnel.

To be fair, none of the factions in the Expanse are all that appealing. Earth is completely consumed by the globohomo, Belters are space ******* speaking in space ebonics, and Mars is just Earth, but with more sand.

That was nothing compared to body positivity Martian marine woman.  I particularly loved how she easily smashed guys 3 times her size yet apparently won't pass up any donut she can find.

More interesting was that in the books she was tall and gorgeous. Not short, obese, and ugly like the show.

Admiral Shaala-something something Quarian from ME2. She ends up a hollowed out shell of her former self by the end of the show anyway. :yuck:

I'd zone out whenever her ugly face showed up on screen. Atrocious accent, garbage personality and the crying face which was probably most of her screen time.

Amos, the pirate guy (stupidly killed off) and middle eastern texan were about the only things I even liked in the show at all.

From a story perspective, and ignoring the woke garbage (which was most of the show) I felt they really had something with the awesome advanced Mars versus Earth setup. And then... lost it all when aliens showed up. Went from a great setting to simply another: aliens did it scifi. Bleh.

I've never watched the show or read the book, but the game trailer reminded me of another sci-fi game, Exodus. The art direction feels pretty generic, and the overall setting doesn't seem particularly inspired either. As for the gameplay, it looks like the typical 'light RPG' shooter we've seen many times before.

Both games are supposed to fill the void left by Mass Effect, yet neither seems to offer anything beyond: 'Hey, it's in space!

It's basically Mass Effect, but not. It depends on how much you like Mass Effect and if you wanted Mass Effect to be more grounded and without aliens.

The problem with ME was you -have- to play a stupid human. This has no aliens at all, and Mars probably can't be awesome because "nationalism bad" so... :yuck: :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

It takes place in space and has guns. That's about where the similarities end.

Mass Effect is space magic, chosen-one hero fantasy with 1000s of aliens and blue sex slaves and galaxy-saving drama.

The Expanse is β€œwhat if space travel sucked (it does) and everyone was broke, mad, and dying of radiation." And hardly any aliens.
