There's a black female in the promotional art. I won't play it.

Unfamiliar with The Expanse universe, is it really interesting enough to make a game around?

Rape doesn't even begin to describe what a person who buys this deserves.

iirc the original authors were designing it as an MMO and then decided later to make it a book instead.

Let me put it this way: There's a reason the promo items are for a guy they kill off in the first season of the TV show that went on for like 7 seasons or whatever

I still hold to the opinion are that Owlcat are overextending themselves with how many projects there juggling at once.

Figure it was going to be the expanse from there previous AMA’s. Trailer was ok, nothing terribly exciting since it was mostly cutscenes with some gameplay by the end, although I will give credit to Owlcat that it look better announcement showcase than Exodus.

Decent trailer… but that's all it is.

They still haven't even finished Rogue Trader, they're months behind schedule with DLC

Cautiously optimistic. Disappointed there no physical disk. Also it appears that the MC going to VA. I really hope the dialogue options doesn’t boil down to three options that Mass Effect 2 &3 ( Mass Effect was the worst offender in that front) devolved to.

Just took a quick peek at the setting, and the idea of a futuristic Earth vs Mars isn't exactly novel, but I seldom see many sci-fi settings tackle it.

Could be interesting if handled properly, but yeah the negress in the cover is a turn off.

Going to wait for actual gameplay to be shown before I hype myself (due to the lack of decent space games).

are you referring to the people?

other than a few elements, early expanse stuff is mostly hard, plausible scifi
meaning outside of constructs large enough to generate its own spin gravity, there is no artificial gravity, they use magnetic boots to be able to walk

I'm very iffy on this. I read the first four Expanse novels and I stopped giving a **** past the first two. Expanse worked best when it was all contained within Sol, and the conflict was exploring the politics and changing nature of human expansionism, etc. Course, it got ruined when one of the better characters died and then every book after two just repeated the same tired old "war, war never changes" WE WUZ HUMANS but in an alien setting. I can only imagine book five onwards is more of the same boring ****. Holden is stuck in a loop, and frankly was never as interesting of a character as Miller because his morality isn't actually that deep or insightful.

Man, the TV show was even worse. They turned Naomi, who was a half jap half european woman who was always described with long hair, into a ****** with short hair. Show was trash in general for many reasons, but that one always stuck out to me as the most egregious.

Naomi is basically the main character by the end(? is that **** still going?) of the TV series :D

And yes, it goes to **** the moment Miller is gone.

Every single modern scifi book, TV show, movie, game, etc., is required to portray all black women as super smart intelligent scientist-hackers who can do everything with the power of BLACK GIRL TECH MAGIC so it's unsurprising that both of owlcat's new games have black women in that role

I feel this game is just going to suffer the same fate at this point. Owlcat doesn't inspire much confidence in me to pull off an intelligent hard sci-fi or hell, just making a game that actually ******* works properly. Would be nice to at least get some gameplay since this is a large deviation from their isometric approach.

The only thing I liked about the Expanse were all the characters you weren't supposed to root for like Murtry.
Everything else reeks of Game of Thrones mixed with Mass Effect but only all the cons and none of the pros. Modern sci fi settings without direct contact with a "Galactic Federation" or whatever sucks because it ends up being a tacit celebration of the "rigidly diverse cast!" and all that *********. Artistically, the Expanse looks disgusting, ******* sue me.

So they can do some decent portraits for a change! Expanse though; the cute guy is probably gay. The cute girls are probably *****. And I'm sure somehow that hideously ugly crying black woman from the show will somehow be in it anyway ruining the whole thing.
