King Arthur: Legion IX
How's this compare to the Expeditions series games?

Don't think it's comparable. They're tactical rpgs with good combat and decent story/writing.
Expedition games, Vikings at least, is much closer to a traditional rpg.

Despite it being 90% asset reuse and not as well designed as the original, it's still fun because the bones of the game are fun. Not surprised it has a lower review score than the base game tho. Feels a bit like a cashgrab but eh, enjoying my time

What is the "original" game you guys are talking about? Because the premise of a Roman legion coming back from the dead in Avalon is having me intrigued.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ June 5th, 2025, 21:44Despite it being 90% asset reuse and not as well designed as the original, it's still fun because the bones of the game are fun. If you like tacticool RPGs, it's a must-buy. Great game, no woke stuff.

Oh wow, are these two games related? I got King Arthur's Knights Tale sitting in my library and I still have to play it. Thanks for the recommendation/reminder.

Legion IX is a standalone expansion that takes place in the same area. The stories seem mostly unrelated(so far).
The base game is pretty much all around better. Legion IX is more like a side-story game with less features.

Example of how it feels like a rushjob:

That's for the base game, not the (standalone) xpac.

I might if I get bored enough, but I'm unsure if I'll finish this. I don't regret buying it because I like the developer but meh.
If I had to guess, this started as a DLC then they tried to turn it into a full standalone game, and then scaled it back for some reason. A bit disappointing. Looking forward to their new game announcement sometime this year.
