They really dropped the ball with the likeable companions.
Bioware became famous and sold millions of copies just because no-lifers wanted to have some friends. Starfield's companions are bland as **** and absolutely unmemorable. The cowboy guy? NIck Valentine he's not. Bethesda could've given you a dog companion. Everyone likes dogs, the Soviets sent a lot of them in space with two becoming very known. Why isn't there a dog companion? Vasco is not cutting it as a dog.
They could've also waifu-maxxed. Bioware became famous and made fortune just because a bunch of no-lifers wanted to have their fantasy harem. Fo4 was pretty good at it, there were whopping three waifu-material companions - Eva Green looking plucky journalist, oirish drug-addicted tomboy, and a french sexbot. Starfield has... two boring ladies, I don't even remember their names.
Lads, just pick "hero worshipped" trait, and travel with the Adoring fan.

If the response to this game is largely:
"Pronouns in the character creator? Lol, no big deal crybaby. It's not like it's political!"
Then you will have effectively seen wokeness normalised as the new baseline in the form of fantasy enthic demographic proportions, the inversion of homosexual over heterosexual relationships via the sheer preponderance in the game world and maybe the most amazing; the fact that a major game release will cater to your pronouns and remarking on that is seen as an odd, suspect thing to do.
This is ignoring the blatant matriarchal nature of Starfield but those seeds were sewn long ago; New Vegas has so many proto-girlbosses that it's laughable. Yet it was tolerated then and you still have people who seem to believe this stuff just emerged ex nihilo circa ~2013.

Tried out one of the crew members as my companions and she made exactly 1 comment in about an hour of playtime, when I landed on Neon. They don't seem integrated at all.
If all named crewmembers were full companions, they'd roughly equal the FO4 companion cast size FYI.
Complete ball-drop, sorry Todd, going to have to lower my score to an 8.5/10. Companions make or break RPGs!

Todd stripped the game bare so modders would have stuff to do.
I really wanted to like Starfield because of the art direction. Oh well, modders will fix it.
That's because likeable waifus are haram in current year +8. Wouldn't want heterosexual men to enjoy themselves, though Bethesda seems to have taken it one step further and made it so not even ******* can get it on. I'm amazed none of them are ******.wndrbr wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 12:29They could've also waifu-maxxed. Yeah, if you still think you're getting fan-service or waifus in modern mainstream Western games then you've missed the point completely. Their view abhors such a thing. Sex is for ***** Folx and Women, but only on women's terms.gerey wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 12:46Todd stripped the game bare so modders would have stuff to do.

What's truly hilarious is that homosexual relationships are also not for (sodomite) men, but for fujoshit women.Jason Bright wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 12:50Their view abhors such a thing. Sex is for ***** Folx and Women, but only on women's terms.

It's pretty obvious that a lot of what's happened to the West in the last say 50 years is that we went from a fundamentally Male society (as in geared towards men moreso than women) to a mixed form from the 60s/70s to about the early 90s and from about 2015 we essentially cater to female needs over male concerns.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 12:54W*men ruin everything.

Whether this can persist for more than a few generations we don't yet know.
As usual Bethesda's design decisions are inexplicable and infuriating. Even in Fallout 4 they flubbed by cutting a quest where Nora comes back as a synth, something which was so obvious that I kept waiting for it to happen my first playthrough.wndrbr wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 12:29They really dropped the ball with the likeable companions.

There's plenty of ways they could have played that up. I fully expected the player to be a synth and… nothing. They didn't even hint at it.Emphyrio wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 13:13As usual Bethesda's design decisions are inexplicable and infuriating. I heard one of the DLCs might have? But I never played them.
Altho Starfield's writing/quests are much better in Starfield which is surprising, but welcome.

IIRC that's because the guy that did the Far Harbor DLC for Fallout 4 was in charge of the quests.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 13:18Altho Starfield's writing/quests are much better in Starfield which is surprising, but welcome.

basically every marriage is either interracial or gay or gay and interracial
need an unpozz mod badly
And you know what? I'd probably accept it to some degree if it wasn't always a white person with a black person in a 15 person colony. It's like libtards don't understand genetics and think race is just some lottery that you get assigned at birth. None of this **** makes ANY SENSE WHATSOEVER.
you dont know how good an unpozz mod feels til you try it

you should at least try Far Harbor, it's good. BTW it was the one DLC that toyed with the idea of main character's memories being implanted, sadly this idea never went anywhere because the main game already stated that MC is a human.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 13:18I heard one of the DLCs might have? Far Harbour just makes you hate the rest of Fallout 4 more because you see what was possible from a story telling perspective in that game and what they didn't do for 95% of it.wndrbr wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 13:51you should at least try Far Harbor, it's good. Thou shalt not SIMP
I wish Beth released sequels instead of DLC zones. By the time they've come out I've been bored of the game, and they never integrate the level lists so that the vanilla zones benefit from the new loot.wndrbr wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 13:51you should at least try Far Harbor, it's good. I kinda think / hope they do that with Starfield. I can't see them adding more star systems.. so if their DLC introduce more hand made content I have to assume it's going to make a lot of the empty nothing-to-do parts of the game more content rich.Emphyrio wrote: ↑ September 9th, 2023, 16:24I wish Beth released sequels instead of DLC zones. Hopefully they don't **** it up.

Man.. when you finish the main quest.. you really start feeling content starved..
I've explored almost every star system.. there's really ******* nothing to find in the way of secret content or star stations or anything.. it's all just.. procedurally generated junk.
Starting to realize that a lot of the factions / allusions to things going on in the galaxy have no pay off or are likely planned DLC..

Remember, these people are all (classical) liberals. If asked they'll claim they support freedom of expression and will defend it to their dying breath.
This is why you put a bullet into every liberal, and two bullets in the head of a classical liberal.

For what reason would someone willingly live on a high gravity world rather than a low gravity one?
If you exercised regularly you'd be fine, and the positives of low gravity seem like they'd vastly outweigh the negatives.

All the Starfags pretending Oblivion didn't have this. Everyone has used the spawn multiple item at pc command to fill a store with lettuces.
