Fallout Sonora total conversion — Now playable in browser!

Post by rusty_shackleford »

Fallout Sonora is a very high quality total conversion mod(new game) for Fallout 2. It was originally in Russian, but is now fully available in English.
https://cambragol.github.io/Fallout-Sonora/

Thanks to the Fallout 2 Community Edition, it is now playable in the browser, including being able to save your game.

You can import/export savefiles from the browser

And to ensure the game is fully playable without internet, and doesn't stream assets as they're loaded, you can click the 'Download to offline' button

I'd strongly recommend ticking the 'Enable hi-res mode'. This is NOT the ugly "HD" patch that zooms it out, but a tasteful 16:9 render with a fitting UI:

The developer's other total conversion, Fallout Nevada, is also available. It was done prior to Sonora and I haven't played it yet. I've heard it's good tho. Link is here: https://fallout-nevada.ru/#/FalloutNevadaEng

Random fact: I learned while translating Sonora for myself back in ~2022 that people from Phoenix, Arizona actually refer to themselves as… Phoenicians. :groan:

Finished it, didn't like the amount of adventure game pixel hunting **** it has, glad they fixed it out in their next mod.
Dayglow turned out to be quite disappointing though, as it adds the pixel hunting back.

So far, its good. I'm at an impasse in the savvie town.
It's excellent, must play for anyone who likes RPGs. One of the high quality fanmade projects in recent years, Archolos is another.

I am told that v1.16 is the up-to-date Russian version as well.

You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.

I am not fond of delving into Russian language sites, but I asked around a little for my own interest and I couldn't see anything in progress.
There may be the rare bugfix or something, but Cambragol (Also did Ultima IV: Advent of the Trinity) who is behind the translation seems to think it'll be the last update he'll need to do for a long time.

Note: Windows and other versions [than MacOS] have limited support/testing :scratch-pipe:

Seems the English version was made by a soyperson.
