Despite all the negativity on this site about the video game industry, mostly aimed at derivative AAA garbage, you’re still keeping up with the news and will probably play this on launch day, only to complain about the same issues we always rant about. So why bother?

The industry has profoundly changed direction since the seventh gen days. If your interest doesn’t lie in passionate indie projects, keeping up with it now just feels like a waste of time.
I won't play this. Played Witcher 3 to see the trilogy to its conclusion, it was a decent game and meh RPG.
I have zero interest in playing as ciri.

Most indie games are utter trash with even worse quality control then AAA games.

My issue is that I never liked The Witcher series enough to feel motivated to play as a side character. I really wish they’d just let us create our own protagonist — they could’ve kept Ciri as an optional origin character, like in Baldur’s Gate 3.

But honestly, I’m not surprised. CDPR has never really made a true RPG — their games are action titles with RPG elements.

it's less surprising if you read the books, but then you've read the books which are significantly worse than the games

This supposed tech demo is *********, a game looking 'that' good running on a base PS5, WITH raytracing, and not running at an unlocked 30fps at 540p upscaled?. And here I thought the AAA industry finally got passed lying in trailers. CD Projekt pulled the same stunt with The Witcher III. Hyped it up with great visuals, and then downgraded it severely on release.

This company has very little goodwill left, and they've chosen to die on the DEI hill. I hope Witcher 4 suffers development hell, gets released in 2030, and they get bought by EA for pennies to work on Madden or some ****. I'm far more interested in the Dawnwalker game by ex-devs, despite the trailer looking satanic and with the typical "church bad" innuendo I'm sick to death of. Even 'that' has more soul than this slop.

Meanwhile, the actual talent of CD Projekt that was kicked out in favor of DEI is working on this, which interests me far more than Not-Witcher.

I don't want to play the devil's advocate, but I don't think CDPR's PR is that bad. People still remember Soyberpunk's disastrous launch, but in the eyes of many the ***** "redeemed" themselves by supposedly fixing the game.

I do hope both Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 are flops, but I just don't see it happening unless they have another 2077-like launch.

I still have reservations about it.

I bet they'll pull the "vampires are just misunderstood", and IIRC some of the vampires are very diverse.

At this point I don't trust a single Polish game developer not to pozz it up unless proven otherwise.

I didn't think it looked That bad it seems that maybe she is taking after Geralt in her attitude instead of just a girl boss. I also didn't see a single African in the European village but I was watching in like 480p. I still won't get it launch day in case it needs a dei remover mod or she's a flaming bull ****.

Why are people still giving the benefit of the doubt when CDPR made their intentions plainly clear.

Ciri was already a filthy **** in the original books. Not sure why you would get mad about it now that it’s openly shown in the video game. Pretty sure the blind sorceress hoe is one too

they will never learn.

Buggers running another scam. After multiple delays and internal reboots, their game will come out in 2040, only to end up being a buggy unfinished mess that struggles to maintain 30 FPS on playstation 7.

The fact that they can’t even show a short ingame footage gameplay that isn’t a tech demo even though it was in development since 2022 is sad.

Both Ciri and Philippa (the blind sorceress) are straight with caveats. Ciri was raped for months by a **** and got Stockholm syndrome. Philippa just got annoyed and disgusted from men by the spymaster Dijkstra (who's a big guy UUUU) and started lezzing out out of boredom.
The vast majority of sorceresses have the "I kissed a girl" phase in their magical college and pretty much all of them grow out of it and go back to men.

it's written by a fat giga-coomer libtard

heavily plagiarized too, early works were stolen from folktales(there's even a letter to the editor about it), later tales are stolen from english novels. The latter part makes sense in context when you learn fatkowski worked as a translator from english to polish, and the witcher books didn't get an official translation TO english until after the first game was released.

This is one of the letters to the editor Fantastyka published shortly after publishing Sapkowski's story in 1986:
Szanowna redakcjo!
In human language:
Esteemed Editorial Board!
The story "Wiedźmin" published by you is a shameless plagiarism of the folktale rendition by Roman Zmorski titled "Strzyga," published in 1852 in the collection "Podania i baśnie ludu polskiego" ("Legends and Folktales of the Polish People"). Only the beginning of the story has been slightly altered by Mr. Sapkowski - the rest follows Zmorski’s text almost verbatim. I trust you will not let this matter rest.
Selection_028.webp
It would just be a coincidence if he didn't happen to be the translator for Elric's stories and already get caught plagiarizing.

Geralt's chapters in the books were the only thing keeping me going. Ciri's was a test of willpower, and Dandelion akin to soviet prison interrogation. The games are pretty much similar in all ways. This series lives and dies off a stoic, masculine, morally conflicted man. Not a woman. Besides, I saw their press releases after the initial trailer and they couldn't stop bringing up feminist rhetoric when describing Ciri's journey within the Witcher 4. Nah, I know exactly where this is headed, and this series is dead as far as I'm concerned.

Polacks just elected a snus-munching football hooligan shitlord to be their next president, so at least there's that.
