I was looking more at her nose, those lines that go downwards towards the end of the lips.

The "look" of betrayal they share with each other, to further prove that the animators doubled down on this, since this was added recent patches, either patch 6 or 7:




To emphasize this flaw in her character to feel more "real", framed as just "lack of self awareness" rather than a skin crawling feeling of emotional distress, and worst form of betrayal.

It seems that this is the "new normal". A woman that was written with the concept that sexual desire and emotional loyalty aren't mutually exclusive. Her only excuse is that "she doesn't act on it unless Tav consent to it", that further gives her the "perceived freedom" to say such shameless things.

The only way to prevent this from happening is by actually killing Halsin back in Act 1. And even then, she still written to be flawed, "realistic", and to embrace her "openness" post Selûne arc. Since she still says: "There's an idea. If you're comfortable sharing... so am I.", despite Halsin's absence and before Tav even consent to anything in the dialogue.

TL;DR: You're just her therapist in her own romance, while Halsin is the potential "dream hall pass". Absolutely unfair to the player.

There's a mod called "Really Shadowheart" that basically fixes her inconsistencies that stops her from being a cheating degenerate (especially on her Selune path), such as her interactions with Halsin. Selune Shadowheart is also monogamous and shows disapproval when Tav sleeps with other women. I think Shar Shadowheart in the mod is more polygamous (such as being okay with the drow twin threesome). Tav can also propose to Shadowheart and she'll respond positively if Tav meets certain requirements along the story and the two can sleep (no sex) together on the same bed. Really good mod and didn't notice Shadowheart being a degenerate but is now wholesome tradwife material.

Unfortunately, it seems that vanilla Shadowheart is a degenerate though. Seems like if the writers and animators are doubling down, then it's probably malice since Shadowheart is the #1 love interest for players.

larian was basically the last developer that hadn't replaced me as their target customer — until BG3. I was there to buy larian's games when they were on the verge of bankruptcy. I even bought the weird RTS-cross-strategy game they made.
Always remember, businesses are not people and they are never your friend. If a developer makes a game you like that panders specifically to you — **** 'em, pirate it anyways. If you give them money it will be used to make a worse game targeted at people you hate.

A lot of developers, businesses in general, are quick to forget that they have a core customer base that has been buying their products for longer than most people they currently employ have even been there.

Yep, I was a big fan since Divine Divinity came out and stumped for them since then. Even their rough releases of the past, I still found the charm and effort in them and sympathized with their obstacles (ie the issues they had with Beyond Divinity, the strong arming they had with Divinity II, etc...).

DOS II was where I became suspicious and disappointed and likely why I wasn't "surprised" with BG3 turning south (I refused to buy it in EA because I didn't trust them to not pozz it up), but I was unprepared that it would be to that level and them willing to place it above their craft. Divinity II was considered somewhat of a sell out to console style 3rd person play due to pressure from the studios, but even so, the game was still quite good as they were able to let their work shine through with it.

With BG3, it is like they gave up and gave in. It was a game where I think the modders have way more talent and passion than Larian themselves.
