S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy "Enhanced Editions" Censorship

Post by Fox1 »

It has come to my attention that nu-GSC has re-released the classic STALKER Trilogy (Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat) on May 20th claiming that they have "enhanced" the visuals of the games to make them compatible with modern systems, updated textures and lighting, DX12 compatibility, native widescreen and high resolution support. They have claimed they haven't changed the original stories, but they have hidden changes they have made to the original games, ******* with the legacy of old GSC due to anti-Russian hatred over the war. They have removed and censored most if not all Soviet iconography, despite it being the central theme of the exclusion zone and an example one of the massive failures of the USSR, with the main appeal of the exclusion zone itself being a time capsule from 1986 rife with environmental storytelling. They also changed the currency from Rubles, removed Russian voice overs and subtitles, and the games are still full of bugs too. As someone who has played SoC since launch in 2007 this is the equivalent of taking a **** on an exhibit in a historical museum. Basically, it's the same theatrics they have done with STALKER 2, which also has no Soviet iconography in the zone, no Russian voice over or subtitles, and is full of DEI crap. Unacceptable. As usual the "access" jewnalists are supporting these devs in their censorship and historical revisionism.

TL:DR. "Enhanced" means censored and ruined. Do not buy or play if you want to experience the games as they were intended to be. nu-GSC are woke **** who want to censor and revise the history of the previous GSC devs' hard work. I knew they would do this once they released their "roadmap" for STALKER 2 which included "remasters" of the originals. Grab the originals from GOG if you're interested in playing these great games before they get taken down and become hard to source.

It's Shadow of Chornobyl now, you hater!
The funny thing is when Russians leaked 15 GB of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2's various design documents, art books, concepts, sketches, etc 2 years ago all of them were in Russian.

Truly incredible from the hoe-hoels, game was always in Russian and never properly localized, the game is based on books by georgian **** for **** sake. Original games have been unlisted in Steam and this **** litter is being force fed to people like theyre foie gras ducks. Oh yeah, apparently old mods wont work either.

Ukrainian seethe is so funny. Almost as funny as the fact they are now LITERALLY just re-releasing Stalker over and over again instead of ripping it off over and over again.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

you can still *buy* the originals on Steam, you just need to be in the know - and you don't have to go on a wild goose chase to purchase it on GOG

i think GSC is quietly keeping them on Steam because STALKER has an massive amount of mods that rely on older versions of the X-Ray engine. those mods are an inseparable part of STALKER's legacy

the weird, slapped together DX12 version of X-Ray that the enhanced version uses is probably going to break just about every total conversion under the sun if you try to install a major mod into it
