Modded, BG3 is almost a perfect game. If only more RPG could be as rich and deep as this game (less woke too). But I am enjoying my runs a lot :pipe-hat:

Easy. I ignore the gacha. In fact I didn't even know about the controversy until someone else mentioned it. Most of it was apparently over plot changes which amuses me. WHAT plot!? It had a plot!?

No, you’re right — he actually looks even older than Jaheira. I wonder why they made him appear that old, especially when Shadowheart looks so young. :|

Did you mean me? Even if not, I actually brought him in to see it over Easter. There's this gorgeous fairy gown with incredible sparkles. They outdid themselves on the glitter effects. Also there's a really cute French provincial style town in an alpine like setting. Great style.

It was a bunch of things, from what I heard. The gacha making getting dresses more expensive by making you pull for more pieces, the fact that they reduced the currency from events by half by extending events to twice their usual length before they refresh, the deceptive monetization practices with fake discounts, the fact that they removed currency from players that earned it through events, hiding coloring dresses behind monetization when it was supposed to be free, the buggy release that left players on several platforms unable to log, without compensation for days lost on their log in rewards from the battlepass, etc, etc, etc.

Is there even anything to do in that game besides the gacha?

Yeah as I'm not really doing much with the gacha I don't really notice any of that. I did run into the bugs, but those are gone now. Took them about 2 weeks or so to get that ironed out. I was never aware there was going to be a dye system at all nor of the claim it was supposed to be free. So I expected some kind of nonsense quasi-paywall type system to access all of it. Everybody does fake discounts and gets away with it so I expect it. Doesn't make it right, but I don't consider this game a real game. Just a temporary thing to relax until they inevitably scare off all their players and have to close down. The inevitable fate of all gacha nonsense.

Well, yes.
  • Everything is gorgeous. So it's nice to just walk/float/ride around.
  • Material gathering. They have a really good fishing system. (My only complaint is that is requires mashing the right mouse button so I of course use a macro. Otherwise great fishing system!)
  • Lots of mini games. From bouncing on balloons to bubbles to to bike races. I particularly like the puzzle games.
  • Lots of hard to reach or hidden zones. So exploration is fun.
  • And of course dress up. Despite me not going for the gacha system you still get a ton of clothes anyway and so can mix and match.
  • Plot clothes are gacha-free and require a lot of materials and are also gorgeous. So I like slowly gathering up the necessary components for those.
  • There is a lot of platforming stuff which I'm not fond of. But it's something to do.
  • Some of the repeatable boss fights actually get a little difficult. But it's mainly due to timing your jumps. Combat consists of essentially an infinite fireball you shoot at enemies. Or a jump down smash attack like Super Mario or something.
My tendency to avoid the gacha nonsense also means I have tons of the diamonds which they use for gacha. So I could theoretically acquire whatever I wanted from the gambling system anyway if I had the desire. So far the free/quest clothing is interesting enough for me. So far the only gacha outfit I went for was of course the elf/fairy one.

Bannerlord -> The Old realms. First time as an wood elf & Tainted Grail : the fall of avalon. Yes, I love Celestial Magic in WH so much that even when I'm playing as an elf, with access to high/dark/life/wood/fire/etc, I'm using mostly Celestial magic.

Yep. And he hits like a truck. Once, in a siege all of my infantry got destroyed except him. He still killed a LOT of enemies, mainly cuz I had a life merc wizard healing him. Anyway, I played a bit more of The Old Realms as an Grey Lord but honestly, didn't liked much as the wood elf spellsinger.
