I think I'll just play the original then. If anyone that's not red7 would happen to have a recommended list of mods I would very much appreciate it.

Leveling was a good fix even if it makes the game easier.
Mods have done it better for years.

I wish OpenMW was compatible with Oblivion and Skyrim, what's taking so long?!.
Apparently its at least partly because of multiple things that would probably require a ton of reverse engineering.

With Oblivion, Bethesda's RadiantAI is one of the reasons but they also used a lot of external proprietary software, such as "SpeedTree" for generating the vegetation in real-time as well as the "Havok" physics engine which is also proprietary. The game also uses an implementation of another proprietary software called "FaceGen" for the in-game faces.

Since they're primarily focused on adding onto/improving the Morrowind implementation further at the moment AFAIK, I have no idea when any reverse engineering for Oblivion's internal mechanics would begin.
I'm not particularly knowledgeable so please take my posts with a grain of salt.

Also based on your modlist you didn't play original Oblivion either btw

I do think obviously the original should be played over the remaster for newcomers but your pro/con list reads like a person whose entire experience with the game is reading a thread on /v/.

When I go through the list I'll pick and choose anyway. I mainly want mods that make it not a buggy mess that crashes constantly.

Rusty uses over 40 mods and then complains when the application keeps crashing.

I played it for 25 hours and only had one crash. Used a low single-digit number of mods.

Any reason to play TES IV remastered over the original TES IV with mods?
Pros:
Crashes less

Cons:
Wrecks the artstyle
Runs like ****
Incompatible with decades of mods
Both changed too much where they shouldn't have, and yet didn't fix anything that should have been fixed
God forbid they wreck the generic high fantasy slop art style which only existed because Todd liked LOTR. The remake is better because combat isn't as horrible and they fixed the **** leveling system, just get a mod that fixes the drab filter and the censorship from the original and you have the definitive version of Oblivion

Objectively untrue statement, that spot goes to Reign of fire.

Also the remaster made marksman and hand to hand actually playable and fun by changing/overhauling the **** perk trees both had on the original so you have more functioning playstyles in your rpg

God forbid they wreck the generic high fantasy slop art style which only existed because Todd liked LOTR. The remake is better because combat isn't as horrible and they fixed the **** leveling system, just get a mod that fixes the drab filter and the censorship from the original and you have the definitive version of Oblivion
LOTR is better than anything else made this century, yea
Objectively untrue statement, that spot goes to Reign of fire.

Also the remaster made marksman and hand to hand actually playable and fun by changing/overhauling the **** perk trees both had on the original so you have more build variety in your rpg
skills that shouldn't exist
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
