Defiance being revived on April 18th

Despite its age and obvious jank, the minute-to-minute gameplay is still so freaking satisfying to me. The game is FAR from perfect, but I'm thoroughly enjoying getting to play again. Between work and wife aggro, I haven't gotten to play as much as I've wanted, but that probably just helped not overdoing it and getting burnt out.

I watched the wacky show with a friend of mine a year ago. That was some drug induced stuff!!

Only thing that made any of it worth it was the snow elf guy and his weird wife. Everyone else was awful. Especially that insufferable mayor woman.

Like most things post mid 90's there's some bs, but the main char Nolan carries the show. Funny thing is, the pozzy-practicers always face some bad end ( death/setback ) which is poetic. It's a better sci-fi show than most out today ( imo ). People praise Firefly and Battlestar Galactica ( new age version ) but I never liked them. Firefly/Nathan Fillion is overrated. I stopped at season 1 end regarding this thread, I might still watch season 2 and 3 but S1 is more impactful. Like most things after the first move/season the following 1 or 2 additions fall short especially when directors/leads change mid or end of season like The Walking Dead for example. It gets garbage after so long and there's too many filler episodes with non consequential plots. We're enjoying the game as it is, as it's a pleasant memory for the two of us before he got sick so it hold different. Hope this helps you at all.

Well off the top of my head:

• Prostitution is good. Though as you say the prostitute sister ends up getting dead via snow elf poison. Which was lovely because she was as bad as her sister.
• Religion bad. A bunch of veiled jabs at Christianity. It's all so tiresome.
• The entire town sleeps around. Seriously, they spent so much time in bed it's no wonder the town goes from one calamity to the next.
• Mayor woman continually makes very bad and stupid decisions yet is constantly told she's beautiful and strong and makes good decisions. <-- Proto girl boss here. She really got bad season 2 and beyond though.
• The snow elf guy was the best thing on the show.
• Last season has black elves show up and it goes as you might imagine. However they kind of get killed off. Sort of.
• Quite a few The Gay™ but they also usually end up dead.
• Frequently veered into gross territory on occasion.

  The hand job through the bars in the prison for instance. Blech! That was unfortunately also the snow elf guy.
  
• The black sidekick literally has rapey eyes through most of the seasons he's in. It was was so bad I was dying whenever he was on screen. Fortunately dies rather horribly. Lovely.

@Nessa So you see what I'm saying then. The degenerate/shifty people seem to get ****** over, are portrayed in a dimmer light or face terrible ends. Works for me. That's Why I like it so much. You have to see through what is being shown to a deeper layer. Have to look at it with a different lense on and keep track/take note of who's doing what and pocket it for later when the bell tolls. Everyone I wanted 'taken down a notch, taught a lesson or dead' was in the end. It's hilarious. I personally didn't find any of the broads on there attractive or likeable at all. Mayor Blonde was a bumbling idiot, I wouldn't buy pies from her at a Mom and Pop shop if she had one.

Generally rule of thumb in shows like this: show skin, be related to skin-showers/sex workers or try to get involved with the main characters provacatively, you meet a bad end. Overall, was not disappointed.

I just wanted the dumb mayor blond woman to get a bad end.

Though I suppose she sort of did anyway because the main guy sails off on an alien ship in the end. So she's left ALL ALONE.

What carried it for me was the Snow elf husband/wife team. They were fun.

@Nessa Exactly. It's poetically satisfying lol. The Tarrs were the close second main-stay of the show. Stoma's veil slips starting in S1 and their displays of control/chaos were an entertaining sideshow to Nolan. Last on air show I ever watched, haven't watched tv/had a subscription to anything broadcasted in years.

Yeah it's just different for us as we played it when he got sick. 3rd battle buddy... still waitin. Fair enough : )
