roughly 7 GBs with all of the DLCs, to a whopping 125 GBs? I mean, I could see it being bigger due to the textures and higher-poly models or whatever, but that's an over 100 gigabyte
It's every single model in the game, and they're very high-poly, and probably not very well optimised in terms of the poly-count/ data. The textures are also like 2-4k.
Haven't you ever modded Oblivion? It's easy to make the folder 100gb.
I was just surprised that the remaster was so much larger than the original in file size despite otherwise featuring much of the same content. I didn't realize that graphics-related stuff could increase the file size that much with textures and models alone.
I've modded Oblivion, but mostly with lighter stuff like things that are supposed to improve the game's level scaling somewhat. Heaviest graphics-related mod I used I think might have been something that was supposed to make the skies look better, or something like that? Didn't mess with too many model or texture-related mods since I didn't know if it would make the game more unstable or not due to being a 32-bit program and a Bethesda game.
I'm not particularly knowledgeable so please take my posts with a grain of salt.

The reason FF7 Rebirth is like 150gb is purely because of the sheer amount of high-poly models & hires textures.
When you download the graphical mods which do a similar thing for Skyrim/ Oblivion, although not up to the same fidelity, it can easily reach 100gb+ but those mods can often be uncompressed/ unoptimized.

At higher levels you really need mods like obscurious oblivion overhaul from the original, the loot gets so boring in the vanilla game that exploring is pointless. The mod at least adds some set items and other unique items and new monsters/bosses. So tired of Goblin and Necromancer caves.

It's pure incompetence. Using extremely high resolution textures for tiny objects that don't need it because they can just say "get a better PC lol".

I really don't think that's an improvement though. You're just sort of elongating the Oblivion experience slightly with what are essentially reskinned versions of what already exists. This is sort of natural though no game is going to be fun forever. You're always going to eventually get so strong and so rich there's nothing left to drive you forward except a desire to complete storylines or liking the core game loop for the sake of it.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?
Vanilla Oblivion without even Maskar's Overhaul? No thanks. To say nothing of missing Stranded Light.
One of the charms of original Oblivion was it was so vast in comparison to Skyrim when modded. Anequina, Valenwood, those mods that added more Ayleid ruins... Oblivion modded was so much larger in scale. Throw in Stranded Light as a main quest replacer and it's mainly why it took me so long to move to Skyrim.
In particular though... how on earth did this jump from roughly 7 GBs with all of the DLCs, to a whopping 125 GBs? I mean, I could see it being bigger due to the textures and higher-poly models or whatever, but that's an over 100 gigabyte jump.
I am lobbying congress for a law that stipulates that game developers have to pay a penalty of %x of their worldwide turnover per released game in excess of 30 GB, where x is each GB in excess of 30.

The core gameplay is exploring caves and loot stuff and hopefully get better stuff or enhance skills. I could finish the thieves and blackbrotherhood quest lines still but for what they dont really have worthwhile rewards at the end. At least the necromancer amulett in the mageguild quest line and the helm of oreyn bearclaw if it was unnerved from morrowind have decent rewards. I dont need to replay these quests for the experience. I already know the outcome, even if the last time I played it is 10+ years ago. Only other thing is the mainquest. Already finished shivering isles, warrior/mageguild/arena/knightsofthenine and the vampirism quest. Not much else to do.

I know, I'm saying that things like OOO don't fundamentally change that. At the end of the day it just adds more leveled enemies and more random enchanted vendor trash for you to sell or stick in a chest somewhere.

What do you guys think of the difficulty ? I feel like normal difficulty is a lot easier than the og's. Level 10 and I only came close to dying once in 5v1. Also feels like ennemies barely do any damage. I don't remember it being that way.
Tried changing to Expert but it becomes ridiculously difficult.

I think the difficulty was adjusted even tho people are saying it's the same, it felt easier to me

There are so many sets you can collect tho which were really good, that carott on the stick can keep you motivated way longer.

I've definitely noticed it's been hilariously easy. A couple of cases of leveling so fast my weapons are kind of ****** at doing damage until I get a new one appropriate for the bracket I'm in but enemies have been non-threats 90% of the time unless I get absolutely swarmed. Like Rusty said people claim there's been no changes but unless the leveling change snowball really has ****** things up that bad there's gotta be something going on.

Unless you get a player home mod with mannequins it all ends up in a chest just like your 99 daedric helmets 99 enchanted daggers 99 welkynd stones etc.
Not to say I don't like to collect myself. I use to have a player home with little display cages where I would pile in sigil stones, welkynd stones or flawless gems.

not really if set items enable different builds.
This one here seems already broken.

Of my 580h on the first release of skyrim, 500h were unmodded. 80 just messing around.
180h on the Special Edition is obviously modded.
There werent any goods mods anyway for the first few months after skyrim came out only armor retexture really. Constructionset came out half a year later or so. Still fixing the UI if there was already a mod for that was very important. Imagine playing without Skyui these days.

Was poorfag as **** back in 2011 and my PC was like 2005 mid-tier so didnt get to play Skyrim til 2014 when I turned around. I don't think any graphics will ever look as good as they did for me back then.

There was a really great period of time where there was just enough detail in graphics. Your mind would fill in the rest. I still felt that way when I replayed the Special Edition (albeit with mods).
Stuff removed from Morrowind like Crossbows, polearms, throwable weapons, spears, levitation, mark/recall spells back
A way to rebuild Kvatch without mods
A epilogue showing what happens after the end of MQ
More differences among races, not less.
Gender should matter more
Much more quests
More creatures
No bandits with daedric armor and hp bloat at high levels.
More options to customize spells, with projectile speed for eg, more effects, like "cone" spells, channeable spells like Skyrim lightning storm
Optional hardcore mode with cap in how much debuff you put in a enemy, as well chamalleon and other buffs
Optional hardcore mode with less attributes per level up. Where food, water, cold, heat, sleep depravation and etc matters/
Signs instead of being mere bonuses, changing how your game plays, eg - Mage sign reduces the destruction cost by a lot but bans you from wearing any type of armor, paladin sign buffs restoration, cryo/pyromancer giving huge bonus to one damage type in enchantment and spells but banning another element.
High difficulty instead of merely being hp bloating, giving new spells and improving enemy AI and spawn of enemies.
More daedric invasion. In fact, the Wizard tower which PCs can own, could become a "tower defense" optional mode where player tower will be attacked by hordes of daedra
New guilds with unique questlines. Blocking other guilds. Eg - Being able to join necromancers guild and fight against Mages guild.
