Umm guys, I'm starting to think that complaining about replacing male and female gender option with body type A/B is getting kind of stale. We're really arguing over a nothing burger here. None of the anti-woke crowd claimed that Elden Ring was some neo-Marxist manifesto just because it used body type A/B — it’s not on the same level as Baldur’s Gate 3, where it honestly feels like you're in Seattle with how Faerûn’s population acts completely indifferent to racial differences. Is it unnecessary and kind of pointless? Sure. But will I refuse to enjoy a game just because of that? No.
The reason you consider it a nothing burger is because our enemy grabs the initiative and runs with it. They keep knocking ever larger standards down until what was egregious yesterday is tame today since they knocked over something even worse. I was on KotakuInAction2 the other day and someone brought up a great example of this. In Star Trek, Kirk (White Man) kissed Uhura (Black Woman). Today most conservatives do not see the issue, but in the 1960s that was the equivalent of (and I paraphrase the KIA2 poster) a transsexual hooker stripping on national TV, axe wound shown in 4k HD. We did not fight back against it, and now that axe woundesque depravity is considered normal. You are suggesting the same thing, that we concede even more ground to our enemy rather than holding to the principles of our ancestors. Because of that, the next generation of Americans will be looking at you and saying "Arguing about ****** sex scenes in Children TV shows is kind of stale. We're really arguing over a nothing burger here."
If this was nothing worth carrying about, our enemy wouldn't be trying to force it everywhere.

Walked out of Skingrad to see a filthy ****** beggar steal from a fellow Altmer so the two of us and a guard ran him down and slew him like a dog in the street.

I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?
Do you think Bethseda deliberately "leaked" the game to put it on people's radars before the "sudden" release? Do you think the game would have sold as well if it had came out of absolutely nowhere?
Yes, it was how Bethesda always did marketing prior to Starfield.

Some version of this **** was everywhere.
As we got closer, there was tons of stuff including videos in magazines and the gaming sites as well.
Fallout 3 was a lot less.
You may as well not bother replying to my posts if it's to argue anything except concrete facts or your personal opinion. I still probably won't see it.
Reject your retarded-wing political programming and learn to think.
If you can.
There is something interesting to me about how this somehow manages to look worse to me overall than the original despite requiring more powerful hardware. It seems less vibrant and colorful. Quite a few NPCs are "uglified" and manage to look worse somehow than their original counterparts despite the original having potato-faces. Even the facial animations are worse, especially the mouth movement, and that's saying something.
In particular though... how on earth did this jump from roughly 7 GBs with all of the DLCs, to a whopping 125 GBs? I mean, I could see it being bigger due to the textures and higher-poly models or whatever, but that's an over 100 gigabyte jump.
Did they just not optimize this "remaster"? Even Skyrim's Special Edition with all of the DLCs is far, far smaller.

Have you actually played the game or just looked at pictures on the internet?
If you think that the majority of art assets like the armors and weapons look worse than you're just being contrarian.

referring to someone's biological sex as 'body type a/b' is way too cold, robotic, and bureaucratic. sure, you could argue it's bland and inoffensive, but it's also something straight out of a Franz Kafka hellworld in which everything is rigid, stiff, and dehumanizing.

Well, I haven't played the remaster but I have played the original. Most of what I've seen from the remaster has been short clips here and there showcasing some comparisons.
It's not the armors and such, but the way the aesthetic looks. Maybe I'm just too used to the original's 2006 graphics or something.

The lighting is less saturated and bloomy but it's really not as bad as the awful leaked screenshots make it out to be. It's really not an ugly game (besides the faces, which again I think is a lateral move at worst) but the art direction IS different. I just think it's pretty hyperbolic to say it's ugly or overall worse. Most of the people like Rusty saying so have spent zero time in the game world in the various biomes at various times of day/weather.

Vergil had his soul sucked out by playing it
I definitely have my very big issues with it and of course there's the question of if Oblivion really *needed* a remaster (it didn't) but I can't pretend like I've found zero redeeming qualities in it or that I haven't been having fun playing it. It's basically like playing an intriguing modlist for base Oblivion. There's some cool things, some bad things, and some "interesting" decisions made.
The biggest issue really is on a macro level as this "replaces" the original Oblivion in the cultural zeitgeist. Generations of people will ignore the original which has it's own unique qualities that this remaster lacks and I don't feel like the remaster is enough of a total improvement to justify that happening.
EDIT: By the way this is with the caveat that I would never ever recommend paying for this it is NOT worth paying money to experience over the original. It's only worth it as a (free) curiosity for someone who has already been playing Oblivion for almost 20 years now.

It's a shame they couldn't have at least released a 64bit build of oldivion along with it
Reminds me of the BGEE & co games displacing the open source remakes despite not being much better than the originals. People that play the EE aren't playing them the way it was intended, and it's even worse because there's drastic rule/systems changes.

That's one of the biggest problems honestly. I really hate that there is an MGS3 slopmake coming out but at LEAST they ported the originals to PC as well so that they're not just completely abandoned to old consoles. It furthers the issue of just trying to bury the original because this new remaster is the "definitive" version of the game but it's really not.
I'm just stating the facts.

It sucks that we'll probably have to wait until OpenMW supports classic Oblivion to have a more stable 64-bit version of it that can make use of more RAM. And who knows how long that could take.
Right now this remaster is pretty much the only way to play a 64-bit version of Oblivion. Maybe someday. At least there are mods being cranked out for this despite the developer's claims it "wouldn't support mods", so maybe we'll start seeing mods to fix some of the remaster's issues.
That TES fan wiki seems to have some breakdowns of a lot of the changes in it. Apparently there's quite a few bugs introduced that weren't in the original, but they fixed quite a few others. The infamous scroll item duplication glitch for example was patched. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Remastered_Changes
I'm not particularly knowledgeable so please take my posts with a grain of salt.
outside of the ******** customization, the game is just oblivion better better looking. having a lot of fun with it for sure
I wouldn't be able to agree with this either though. It's a very strange game as it really does manage to change too much but also too little at the same time. It's very schizophrenic what they decided to change and keep. They decided to make a change as fundamental as the leveling issue by severely changing the way leveling attributes works. However they left in numerous bugs, errors, and other common complaints about the game's systems. You could argue they wanted a lighter touch on "iconic" aspects of the game but then they very arbitrarily changed some character voices with little rhyme or reason. Why are ALL male argonians changed? Why are iconic and beloved NPCs like the rat lady and necrophilia alchemist changed? You kept the iconic Jeremy Soule soundtrack but you completely altered the UI design in a way that's not more functional just "different".
I'm just stating the facts.

The fact that it uses the same exact scripts from 2006 with bugs that were fixed by mods the same year means you shouldn't be giving them a dollar for it.
I know it's quite a departure from the original look but I really like how inspired the mithril helmet is in the remaster. It's a shame I only finally got a helmet right as I've received multiple sets of elven armor which is what I was originally after anyway.
I'm just stating the facts.

It's every single model in the game, and they're very high-poly, and probably not very well optimised in terms of the poly-count/ data. The textures are also like 2-4k.
Haven't you ever modded Oblivion? It's easy to make the folder 100gb.

Did this game turn out better than the original? I don't really like UE5 but Gamebryo is equally ****** lol
Depends if you like the look of it, with the new NPCs/ animations and lighting.
It's not as unstable as I thought it would be. It seems to work pretty well compared to the original Oblivion. It feels good to play aside from when you swim, that sucks.
Probably not going to receive the same level of mods as TES5,4 & 3, but maybe just enough, you can get rid of the pissfilter already.
