I will post, without spoiler, that the protagonist is a bait-and-switch protagonist.
I'm curious what you mean by this. Can you tell me behind a spoiler flag what the actual protagonist of the game ends up being?
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

Why are zoomers like this?
If people can get the same experience of watching the cutscenes on YouTube instead of playing the game you failed as interactive medium.

It’s speaks volumes more on the game then the actual zoomers.

As for the combat system, initially I hated it because some of the early fights where you need to parry to win had truly bizarre animations and attack timings and it seemed extremely sloppy and jank.
I had a near zero parry/dodge rate on some enemies. That one enemy that does the rush attack, for example. My guess was it was bugged, because no matter what I did it never seemed to work.
I'm afraid there's nothing bugged—our reaction times have simply worsened. It's just as unforgiving as the action games we used to play in our youth: 80's 90's arcade games and platformers. Then came the mainstreaming and enshittification of gaming, and with that, demanding and unforgiving gameplay mostly disappeared—along with our habits.

That said, a good build can help bypass those issues. You can even take damage on purpose and stack bonuses like increased critical rate and damage when at low health, then use attacks that deal more damage the less HP you have. There are several viable ways to finish the game, which is rare enough these days to be worth mentioning.
Except it was that one specific enemy and maybe one other.
You guys may have **** reaction times, my reflexes are peak.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Yeah I can't see what "people" are going on about. The game looks like UE ****, and I can't even come up with redeeming qualities. I think Pixi and Kos-mos are correct; some type of artificial praise is happening.

There you go. Don't ever let anyone tell you this game sucks. Many people are saying this is the best JRPG to come out in 20 years. It was so good its already in talks to get a ******* movie! The gaming industry has been officially saved, everyone. We did it, Reddit! Turn-based games are BACK, baby!

Being a jRPG with normie-acceptable aesthethics and decent production values is enough to be a hit considering the languid competition it otherwise has.

Convinced most people praising this are just playing it on storymode and treating it as an interactive movie.

If I may interject, writing department has been hit with millennial writing since 2010 across the entire medium. Not only movies and TV but also games suffered from it. If the character dialogues are already bad, there's no reason to expect anything from the story. Since I have never really played too many big name recent western games, I don't have the reference nor clue what western game did average gamers considered to be the best story written. But I've seen normie gamers genuinely considering Last of Us to be the best written story just because a lot of mainstream journos said so. There lies the whole problem with normie gamers. They base their conclusive opinion on what the influencer said about the subject rather than forming their own opinions. I felt this kind of bs was repeating through the whole decade when the masses kept praising the pure slops that have subversive messaging, millennial writing or ironic humour, that would explain how Borderlands and Life is Strange could be made into commercial success with considerable fanfare. Western dev being the uncreative bunch almost saturated the gaming market by developing similar type of games with horrible dialogues and story. Then out of nowhere a game like Expedition 33 come that seems to have no millennial writing nor ironic humour and female character not intentionally hit with ugly sticks, average western gamers would naturally be impressed. It didn't help that most anti-woke youtubers I've seen glazing the game like it's the best thing ever. Not to mention dev themselves promoted the game by being heavily influenced by ff10. No wonder western gamers would praise the game to the high heaven.

Ha! I am not the only one remembering "Remember me".

Do not see any similarity, though. Nor with JRPG (other than combat to a degree). The game is incredibly beautiful and very-very French - crazy, sad, touchy, with soft humour. It's like stepping into the ideal Paris - the one from movies and books. So far, love every second of it!

The story is similar

Everything was a simulation among her dead brother who became some kind of a big AI that we have to kill at the end. I don't remember everything well, I played that game years ago, but I liked it a lot yes. Gameplay and artistic direction were actually good.

Are you seriously saying this game represents peak writing? And in what way exactly was it influenced by FFX? The dream thing?

Also, I still don’t get how you find these “women” attractive. They look completely androgynous — no shape, flat as boards. And of course, they got hit with the "diversity" **** too, 1 ***** and 1 ******

To the average western gamers, they would call this peak writing.

I think I read the dev was influenced by FFX. Because the game doesn't have the tumblr character design, average gamers will praise it. I have no idea how you read that I was impressed by this game when I barely know anything about it and only saw a few screenshots.

I have read they were influenced by FF15, so I was curious what influence FF10 had on this game. But anyway, I fail to find this FF-whatever the number- influence on that game.

From what I've seen of little bit of the game, it at least attempts to tell some kind of story without trying to be ironic or using modern lingos or referencing meta humour. To me that qualifies as something that escapes from millennial writing. For a modern game, that's good enough for average people since the bar has been set low.

Just play on an easier difficulty if you can't handle the mechanics
