Well some info just drop regarding the next DLC which is pets :sleepy:

Hopefully the next updates will be more interesting.

Edit: I forgot that they announced that there is going to be Arbites origin but since the original origins we’re lacklustre and had little to no reactivity in the main campaign it’s most likely going to be disappointing.

Lex Imperialis Expansion - Meet the Familiars

Lord Captains!

The Lex Imperialis expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is just around the corner, and today, we begin our reveals with its biggest and most exciting feature:

The Familiars!

From the hints we dropped in our latest AMA, and with the expansion revolving around the Adeptus Arbites, many of you have already figured out that the good boy is on his way.

What most of you probably didn't expect is that there is not one but FOUR creatures that may now accompany your Rogue Trader, thanks to the brand new second-tier Overseer archetype!

Abelard, introduce:

1) The Cyber-Mastiff

IMG_0355.gif
Often seen accompanying Rogue Traders with the Arbites origin, these mechanized canine predators provide martial support during both combat and exploration, protecting their master with utmost ferocity. Notably, Solomorne Anthar, the new companion hailing from the ranks of the Adeptus Arbites, also employs one of these fearless beasts.

2) The Psyber-Raven
IMG_0356.gif
Available to Psykers, these specially bred avian creatures channel and amplify their master's psychic abilities, increasing their range, damage and number of possible targets, as well as providing additional effects.

3) The Servoskull Swarm
IMG_0357.gif
A useful tool often employed by imperial Officers and Operatives, these constellations of hovering servo-skulls provide surveillance, relay their master's abilities across the battlefield, and excel at harassing the enemy

4) The Cyber-Eagle

Valued by imperial Officers and Operatives for their speed and agility, these cybernetic aerial predators soar high above the battlefield, diving on command to blind and maim their master's enemies. They may also serve as the perfect distraction, sowing confusion among enemy ranks, and even potentially causing friendly fire.

Stay tuned — we'll be sharing more about the new Overseer archetype, the new Arbites origin, and other info about the Lex Imperialis expansion soon!

Owlcat has some weird obsession with useless pets/familiars in their games.

I don’t know why either. Although pets were very OP in Pathfinder: WOTR. The only real noteworthy info was that there going to be a Arbites origin but considering the origin was very underutilize I would guess it going nothing more than flavour text like the other ones.

Not yet. They said they’re going to have more updates later on regarding more DLC info but I wouldn’t hold your breath given it’s Owlcat who loves to not add **** people ask for.

This upcoming DLC is the last one in Season 1. Owlcat has said they may make a Season 2 if it sells well, however considering there have multiple projects going on they may just call it wrap after there done because I don’t think Owlcat will be able to commit another two years of post content.

It’s both from what I read. So increase stats and in combat abilities.

If it's gonna be degenerate filth you might as well go full throttle and pick Marazhai xD
I made the mistake of doing his new portrait before I knew he was Degenerate Inc. Now I -must- bring him along. It's a law. :headbang:
Marazhai is one of the best companions, in the way that he is a perfect representation of a dark eldar and written excellently. Plus his voice actor alone is a good reason to bring him along, great voice and line delivery. The guy is having a great time and you hear it in every line he says. I still have his battleshouts in my head when he goes absolutely apeshit and it's just great. Basically the only reason to play iconoclast and not dogmatic is to have an "immersive" reason to bring him along.
I'm sure he's really cool but when he started going batshit insane during warp travel and just going full murderhobo on MY subjects I shot him in the head. This is on my Iconoclast hire-everyone playthrough too. He won't make it out of Commoragh on my Dogmatic. Maybe on Heretic, but still not sure if it's even worth it to go Heretic.

EDIT: The pets look interesting. I'm curious to see if I can stack my Arbites-Origin Doggo with an Officer/Operative Birb or Skull-Squadron.
Overseer Subclass and Arbites Origin sound neat. Wonder if the new guy will clash with Smuggler-Lady? As I recall the Arbites leave the heretical to the Sisters and Inquisition and stick to, like, actual crime. Which will put Jae in a bit of a pickle methinks.

I’m pretty sure there are and the location they have publicly is simply a place holder for legal purposes

@rusty_shackleford Did some digging awhile back and showed some evidence that strongly suggests that Cyprus isn’t there home location.

Basically any russian studio that "relocated" to cyprus is there in name only.
iirc their office is some apartment that shares its address with a bunch of other companies

As for the source of Arbites companion being Bi, Owlcat answered that in their 2024 AMA.

Is there any chance you could say whether the upcoming Rogue Trader DLC will introduce a new male romance option that can be romanced by male Rogue Traders?

“Yes! Such option is coming in Lex Imperialis - the new Arbites companion romance will be available for any gender.”

Mild tangent but Owlcat art that feature woman in Rogue Trader are bowling shoes levels of ugly. I realize that Warhammer 40k has a certain art style but Owlcat interpretation looks really odd in the women department.

I agree, I haven't played RT yet since I have a lot of games I'd like to finish first, but almost all the female companions look like skooma addicts. I do like the one with a cyber-arm though.

They already perfected the companion lineup with Abelard/Heinrix/Pasqal, they should have given up while they were ahead instead of just ******* it up repeatedly.

Jae is ok but the her face looks like post wall 40 year wine aunt way passed her time. It’s a shame to because she is a decent character.

The only remotely attractive female in the game is Vistenza Vyatt.

To bad she was a Slaanesh worshipper, than again the red flags were imminently transparent.
