I guess? You assign points to 5 different stats, you have weapons, that can be upgraded, Pictos are modifiers, and become Luminas after 4 won encounters, meaning you can remove them and then use them passively, each cost a fix amount of lumina and you basically have to do builds.

I liked him a lot too, but a character you like dying doesn't meant he game goes to ****, it means the writers actually have balls. I'm a bit past his death but I would be shocked if he doesn't come back somehow because his skill tree had a ton of **** that was "locked", unless that was just a ruse to make you think he'd be around longterm

Clearly the surprise of the year, no one was expecting this game, and it is on par with Planescape Torment if you are a fan of story-heavy JRPGs like.

So no skill trees or sphere grid type stuff going on? Sounds kind of boring tbh

All the characters except one are either black or female.
And the one that isn't dies.

Tbh if your kind of fun only seems to include build faggotry, then that is sad. But yes it has Skill Trees for each party member.

In the first 30 minutes there's some blacks in town, that's the only even slightly woke thing I've encountered. The expedition team has one black in it and he dies within 5 minutes of setting off on the expedition, and believe it or not he was an actual bro

This is the main source of fun for me in a turn based RPG. It's not like the actual combat is going to be exciting. You're just clicking on things.

Absolutely no woke content, no politics, no ideology. There is only one black Npc, and he’s an assimilated African man, completely fitting in Belle Époque Paris, there's some in the prologue crowds , nothing harmful. He dies early, and there are no USA-style black characters.

The characters? The main character is a 33-year-old white man with a beard, which in this day and age already feels amazing. You immediately sympathize with him. His motives are well written and he is not the usual isekai teenager.

The second character you meet is a cute ginger girl who’s a master at fencing. After the prologue, you’re introduced to a beautiful barefoot brunette Asian girl who uses magic. The girls are stunning, the complete opposite of what modern games have been pushing the past few years.

You can control any of them and explore freely. Their animations are very well done, especially the fencer, who is a personal favorite.

Everything feels like the complete opposite of an Ubisoft game. It looks great, the soundtrack is fantastic, and everything feels like it was crafted by someone who’s been playing video games for 40 years. There are secrets like in classic console games, hidden mechanisms that unlock rooms with small bonuses, some platformer elements , and no handholding at all.

Some will say I speak in hyperbole. Maybe I do, but I haven’t been this impressed by a game in a long, long time.

100% agreed.I hate ******* in games as much as every other sane person, but seriously if you skip this game because of a couple ****** npc's in the prologue then you might as well just never play a new game again. Everything about this game is based as ****

I’m grown weary of people hyping games like these when it just turns out to be a slightly above average game and not second coming of Christ that many say it is.
