I can't stand anime, so with this game I might finally get to try this obscure "JRPG" thing I hear so much about.

I think it looks quite bad actually, though the usual "content creators" pretend it is the next coming of christ. We need a Review.

I don't really find it fun or interesting to memorize exactly when to dodge for each attack when every enemy has multiple different attacks each with their own timing
can't imagine what kind of weird weeb autism would find this enjoyable

yeah, the game looks nice and gameplay is fine too but I am really not a fan of having active parry and dodge systems here when enemies have all kinds of attacks. I mean sure the game tells you what kind of attack the enemy might do but that is not really helping. Would be nicer to have the parry/dodge button show up and press it either in time or perfectly.

basically every enemy I encountered has completely different, and very tiny, dodge windows — and each attack of their has a different one
congrats on turning dork souls into a turn based game, I guess. I'm already done, people who find rote memorization enjoyable should check this out

enemies even have the annoying delays from the newer dork souls games

I'm gonna admit I put the game on story mode because I don't want dark souls ****. ( i mean parry and dodge is still in but the window is bigger) I already have that with Khazan right now. Now I just want a nice turn-based game like Lost Odyssey.

Oh another thing that From Software made popular: "Bonfires" here are instead flags of the previous Expeditions, when you rest you regain your elixirs and enemies respawn.

Isn't this exactly what Dark Souls gameplay boils down to?

Thanks, I am out. I don't like Dark Souls.

Is interacting with the parry/dodge system a requirement or just a nice bonus in normal mode?

If you play on Explorer (normal) it is something that helps you but not necessarily needed as per tooltip. if you play on highest difficulty it is however crucial since parrying lets you counterattack. Both single party member and an all out attack.

Dark Souls is an excellent arpg with great exploration, this is a ****** story-focused, turn-based jrpg with QTEs every fight (wtf?).
Utter ********.

Tempted to load it up just to record the attack animations, they're complete ********. Enemies run up to you and do like 8 seconds of windup with multiple near attacks, then pause and perform a real attack.
Angry thinking about it now

Well, minor difference in this context.
As much as I prefer Dark Souls over DS3 and especially Elden Ring, as absurd I find the decision to combine TB combat with these atrocious QTEs.
Completely bizarre, the worst of both worlds.
