I’m not into the mod scene but I didn’t know it was taboo to use other people mods. I thought it was ok to use other people mods as long as it’s credited.
It's a huge problem. Countless cases of mod authors getting patches taken down with impunity. And you can fully customize your permissions and make it as conditional as you want, and Nexus WILL enforce it.

The Wrye Bash guy wrote about it a few years ago, but nobody listened

No, only modlist authors can get away with it, thanks to some ******** reason Nexus made up—just like they did with mod permissions
Gotta get that traffic and those subscriptions up, for example apostasy and basically any other skyrim modlist uses 100+ face mods without asking anyone

It's only "taboo" because nexusmods has given modders the idea that they own their mods.
Nearly all mods are derivative works, the exceptions would be something like a texture pack not tied to a specific game and not based upon existing textures.
And without the original owner's permission(i.e., developer's), you don't own that derivative work.

How do you suggest we tighten the security on this site? Maybe we could gate account creation with questions like, 'How would you feel if you hadn't eaten breakfast today?' or 'Have you changed your alarm battery recently?'

Since they've moved on wouldn't this be something they can't really do anything about and wotc are the ones to actually worry about?

I don't see WOTC doing anything. Nexus' rules and permissions are exclusive to their sphere and doesn't apply anywhere else that chooses not to give a ****, nor is any of it legally binding. If Bethesda won't lift a finger whenever these things happen, no other company is following suit.

If devs/publishers were going to do something they'd have started with LoversLab ages ago

Wacism is scawy D;
Those types of people are too frightened to even utter the word black or negro in Spanish because media/society has brainwashed them so much. I'll be honest tho, I was in similar place but then after a serious life & death situation I couldn't give 2 fucks if people call me an istaphobe anymore. They mean nothing. Their tears and screams of anguish only amuse me now.

These people remind me a lot of the citizens in Fahrenheit 451. These people are terrified of being uncomfortable and confronting those whose beliefs make them feel "uncomfortable". They act irrational in the face of discomfort and will attempt to either silence or purge those that make them feel uncomfortable. These are the traits of one whose mind is extremely coddled and very low IQ.
