Sekiro was the only game that stood apart from the Demon Souls formula that they've been running with for 15 years.KnightoftheWind wrote: ↑ June 11th, 2023, 04:53The Souls genre as a whole is just a copy-and-paste job, even From Software themselves are very guilty of this. Just set a game in some abstract fantasy world, fill it with abstract monsters that vaguely resemble a living creature, have a dodge roll that makes your character look like a complete prick, and design asinine and complex attack patterns for enemies, that gamers have to autistically memorise in order to progress.

The Lords of the Fallen 2023
The Soulslike formula isn't anywhere near good enough to justify how many games there are. If it has spectacle, scale and refinement like the Darksouls, Seikero and Bloodborne I can understand the appeal but I have no idea how Soulslike fans can play so many mediocre clones of the same game.

Apparently, the game was pretty successful. The sequel is in works, and it is scheduled for release in... 2026.

I wanted to love this game, but gave up after about an hour. The lantern/Umbral **** was annoying as **** and ruined it for me. Sad, because it's actually an interesting idea that sets it apart from other Soulslike titles. Oh well...
Winterberry gone, what I can do to get Barrage Root and Hysteria Pendant?
Is like +40% spellpower for my caster. There is any way to get it? I was playing half blind, doing everything and them watching flyingcowboy walktruoght of areas that I already passed only to see if I missed something. I really want +40% spellpower.
I'm playing as a umbral caster btw.
edit : other question. Does the +wither damage items buff my spells?

You got caught by the dumbest thing in an otherwise good game. Use the wrong elevator at the wrong time (and there is no warning) and winterberry is dead, questline broken, no way to access her inventory. Same thing happened to me but I was basically playing a paladin so I didn't care.WaterMage wrote: ↑ July 6th, 2024, 17:07Winterberry gone, what I can do to get Barrage Root and Hysteria Pendant?

There are weapons that do part of their damage as direct damage to health, part of their damage as wither, and that wither portion of the damage is the one thing I know for sure would get buffed by +wither. I don't know if there are spells that do wither damage, but I assume they would work the same. It's not an all-encompassing buff for normal direct damage spells though.
Solidus Snake Did Nothing Wrong
Looks sort of interesting.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

Since much of the first page of this thread is complaining that the dark fantasy is too similar to Fromsoft's:
The same developers also made The Surge 1&2, which are still Soulslike games but with an industrial, eco-disaster science fiction setting.
I don't like the Fromsoft style of dark fantasy style, so I tried the first and it was alright. Got repetitive fast, but swinging bulky chainsaws and flamethrowers at even bulkier robots did have a certain visceral satisfaction that I never got from swinging greatswords at skeletons.

@Demonic Fate it's not the same developer. Deck13 made the original Lords of the Fallen, then went on to develop The Surge games with a different publisher. Then City Interactive formed a new team to work on the reboot.
