Tons of people have downloaded your ****, liked your **** - and you randomly decided to **** up tons of save files? What??? I support this if it is to tell a site like nexus to go **** itself, and move the resources elsewhere.

To be clear:
Taking your ball and going home is a completely valid decision when you're left with no recourse. The staff of the site actively sided against him in this argument while trying to appear to be neutral.

Time and tools.
Easy to tweak and existing project during your off time. Not so easy to create and publish an entire game (framework, update support an all) when you're working all day already.

I spent 5 years on and off making a fairly ambitious quest mod for Morrowind and for me it's a mixture of factors. Mainly, it's a hobby, there's either passion to do the work or there isn't, I'm not making any profit off the effort. If I did make profit, the passion will die, and then there's no point for my creations. It's a very accessible and less stressful way to put out a concept or in my case, a storyline that utilises an existing engine and world. Most modders with ambitions of making games usually join those group projects like Skywind or whatever, but those are so full of ******** or women these days it's not even worth the headache.

Personally, I only started because I got fed up with these terrible and soulless TES quest mods and such out there. There's maybe a few that end up being good, and even then a coherent and good theme(s) is still rare. I don't give a **** about someone's allegory of being a ******, homosexual, or getting raped by their uncle as a child reflected in a quest mod, yet that's all you see. It fills me with dread that most writers these days have nothing to say beyond their own self identity or shallow brainwashed world view. And sadly I must rely on nexus for user coverage, even though I despise the platform and what it became.

Tirade aside, not everyone wants to become a solo dev either. I only care about story, characters, and dialogue, and modding allows me to pursue that.

Not suspicious at all—devs are among the most successful people, but also some of the most miserable ones. Chronically online individuals with lots of free time and money, which they can't spend on anything because they have no lives. Hence, why echo chambers like Reddit and other ****/ccp funded media gives birth to so many ****** who think cutting off their genitals will somehow get them friends, partner and most importantly happiness.
