Prediction: one of the main complaints will be how uninteractable the game world is. Static props everywhere.
Imagine KCD, except worse.

Regardless of quality, if Bethesda saw this project all the way to release without ever giving the Skyblivion guys a heads-up (under NDA of course), they are gigantic arseholes.

It should be just basic decency to tell people "hey, before you put even more years of unpaid work into a passion project, you should know that we've hired another game studio to do something very similar as a commercial product".

I am hoping that the reason the Skyblivion guys' comments are so minimal is because they were told, under NDA, and decided to continue anyway (possibly because they were told enough to guess it would be ****).
Why would Bethesda give some modtroons a heads up?
Second paragraph of the post you quoted.

Whether they're ****** or not isn't relevant to Bethesda, who are about as pozzed as every other AAA dev.

Nah, modders know that their work can be made obsolete or redundant because publishers and devs always try to make a quick buck with remakes and remasters. As Rusty said, Bethesda if they wanted to, could just send Cease and Desists to these Skywind/blivion mod teams.

It just needed bethesda to pay a programmer to fix any issues with recompiling the game as a 64bit executable, probably could have been done in a week.

You can't sell that for 70 dollars with a 120 collector edition, and 5-6 sets of 10-12 dollar DLC

I wish I was invested in this, but I'm very glad to report that I've only played Oblivion for 5 minutes and then never again.

The horse armor was a deal breaker for me.

Also the English man trying to sound all Roman-like-prestigious didn't exactly make things any better.

I'll give it a chance if they changed something besides visuals. Original Oblivion was painful to play. But if they ditched original OST because of libtard's controversies regarding Jeremy Soule I will spit on their graves after it flops.

Probably safe to say they removed the racial and gender stat differences. I wonder what's going to be more soulless the unreal engine game or the fan remake with skyrim mod assets?

I'm curious what the system requirements will be. And what about modding support.
And the real question is: Can they recreate Oblivion’s iconic vibe? That **** was special

It won't even have feature parity with oblivion let alone modding support. This **** is DOA

No Battlespire remake???
Todd has truly betrayed us all...

Kidding aside, I don't know a single soul who doesn't expect Martin to be turned into a Castlevania character, complete with gay vampire sex and rectum parasites.

Why a UE5 remake when they could just port stuff over to Skyrim and make an official skyblivion? Or is that not as easy?
The remake apparently uses UE5 for graphics and Creation/Gamebryo for everything else. Wouldn't be surprised if this was a testbed for doing the same with TESVI, since it eases up the graphical workload while maintaining the advantages of their in-house engine.
Valter wrote: April 11th, 2025, 10:36
I don't get why these rumors get credence when Morrowind's still got no remake. Was it not highly popular as well? Would Bethesda not prioritize that one over Oblivion?
Morrowind saved the company from bankruptcy back in the day and probably view a Remake as their "Emergency Bailout" game.
