I don't get why people make this out like you have to be one one side. I will probably play the remake but will also still play the original and the skyblivion mod.

It will be fun to see which is better optimised.

Oblivion was both more popular and would take a lot less effort to "modernize." Update the graphix, maybe try putting a bit more effort into the level scaling, call it a day. With Morrowind, they would have to make a different combat system. Additionally, the levitating might be tricky with updated graphix and NPC routines (if they would bother with this). They had to put all the big cities on separate cells from Oblivion on.Valter wrote: ↑ April 11th, 2025, 10:36I don't get why these rumors get credence when Morrowind's still got no remake. Was it not highly popular as well? Would Bethesda not prioritize that one over Oblivion?

In the 00s there was a meme about how every new game was brown, so it's amusing that they took one of the big ones that wasn't and made it so.

It'll be pared down slop, absolutely none of the mechanics BGS promised back when but couldn't deliver will feature, npc schedules and raidiant ai won't even feature, but npcs will have more voice actors.

Nothing ever happens. Trust the plan.
This looks horrifically bad, like, parody levels of awful. If I was going to make joke mock images of an Oblivion remake I would give it minimalist slop UI like that main menu, ******** pre-order bonuses and make everything brown/lifeless

I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

Since the oblivion remake is basically confirmed I guess there going to changing full retail price.
If the elves are beautiful I will pirate it but it'll never even come close to replacing Oblivion.

The journal menu was part of the charm, of course they'd skyrimize it. All memory must be defiled.Vergil wrote: ↑ April 15th, 2025, 15:01Nothing ever happens. Trust the plan.

I really don't have super strong feelings about this but I do think it's perfectly reasonable that everyone involved with the creation of this be buttraped with a naginata until they die of blood loss.

It's not even being made by Bethesda, and it won't be on their Creation Engine / Gamebryo. So it will probably have limited to no modding support anyway.
Why even care? Just play the original if you care that much.
Besides, the blocking / combat is allegedly rollslop.

I suppose. But merely just as an observer. If they haven't 'remastered' the politics, it might be worth paying some attention to. But I suspect it won't be the case, as it was likely mostly developed in the Kabbalah for President timeline.maidenhaver wrote: ↑ April 15th, 2025, 15:44I care as an observer. goygle search says I'm in shambles, because I doubted the remaster rumor.TKVNC wrote: ↑ April 15th, 2025, 15:39It's not even being made by Bethesda, and it won't be on their Creation Engine / Gamebryo. Those leaks say remaster instead of remake... so is it on a different engine or not? 'Cause to my understanding a remaster is just an uplift of the game's graphics while leaving everything else unchanged, and a different engine sounds like a big change on a fundamental level...

One thing Oblivion had going for it was it was bright and colored, without being cartoonish, and not brown like other games.

It's amazing that apparently not a single person working on remakes ever stops to point out such a significant deviation from original games. This seems to happen so frequently.

Regardless of quality, if Bethesda saw this project all the way to release without ever giving the Skyblivion guys a heads-up (under NDA of course), they are gigantic arseholes.
It should be just basic decency to tell people "hey, before you put even more years of unpaid work into a passion project, you should know that we've hired another game studio to do something very similar as a commercial product".
I am hoping that the reason the Skyblivion guys' comments are so minimal is because they were told, under NDA, and decided to continue anyway (possibly because they were told enough to guess it would be ****).

People always ***** about Creation Engine but bethesda games would literally be trash on any other engine that didn't offer that level of customization.rusty_shackleford wrote: ↑ April 15th, 2025, 17:29*has one of the best engines that has been iterated upon for years specifically for quick content creation*Shillitron wrote: ↑ April 15th, 2025, 17:26It's on Unreal engine.Valter wrote: ↑ April 15th, 2025, 16:40Those leaks say remaster instead of remake... so is it on a different engine or not?
