What's a dormant series that should stay dead for its own good?

Most of the modern day developers are passionless hacks that suck at making games and take some sort of perverse enjoyment when it comes to demolishing formerly beloved titles. Whether it is due to being genuinely **** at their job (yes) or made unfathomably ******** through years of antidepressant abuse (also yes) it has gotten me thinking that some video games are better left six feet under for the time being.

The number one entry to me is Legacy of Kain. You just know they'd **** this up. Looking at how current day writers masturbate to their own purple prose there is a morbid part of me that wants to see just how stupid and nonsensical they could get if unleashed upon the world of Nosgoth but I also know they'd end up making Kain a pussy and Raziel a bigger ***** than he already was.

In all likelihood they'd remake the series and I can already see the mountains of dumb decisions ready to be unleashed with Blood Omen 1 alone: Malek's hatred for vampires would be an overt comparison to current day racism (we wuz Dracula), Ariel would be a ***** ghost or ****, Vorador would be Blade, Mortanius would be played by some random ****** limey that acts like a mark over themselves on Twitter, Kain as mentioned would be seen as an outdated and toxic character that needs to be more heckin' quirky and inclusive, mist form would be cut but werewolf remains because furfags have evaded public lynching somehow, the cool atmospheric OST would be replaced with an overly gaudy and orchestral arrangement of trash, they'd probably cut a bunch of content too.

Just thinking about it pisses me off something fierce.

Take my mind off this by telling me a long dead video game series you personally love and pray never gets reanimated by these faggomancers.

Silent Hill 2 was always a subversive game. It took the external, demonic threat from the original and made it an internal one. Into just an allegory for "depression", where every character is a contemptible scumbag without any hope of redemption. And indeed, all the characters end up being killed or committing suicide by the end, if the words from certain devs are to be believed.

I tend to dislike games or stories where the main character himself is just as bad as what he's supposed to be fighting. It leaves me with no one to root for, and Silent Hill 2 is just such a game. I will always prefer the first game overall, and it's too bad it never got a remake when gaming was still good (PS2-PS3 era).

None of SH2 characters are contemptible scumbags, well maybe except for Eddie. If James was truly a bad person, he wouldn't have felt bad about doing what he did. I mean, it was such a shock for his conscience his mind started to repress the traumatic memories. So the plot of the game is just James coming to grips with reality and becoming a better person.

Devs never stated that he killed himself after the game's end, it was just an opinion of James' voice actor Guy Cihi. The actual designers and writers of the game claimed that none of the endings are canon, and that the players should decide it for themselves. After all, why would they implement such an elaborate ending system, if they had one canon ending in mind?

eh, devs just wanted to try something different by pivoting the series into an anthology. They never intended to turn all subsequent Silent Hill games into the same copy-pasted "the town is a purgatory and the main character did something bad in the past" thing, it's the westoid devs who did that.

Now, if you want to know a real nihilistic game where nothing good happens and then everyone dies, look no further than Bloober's The Medium. And those people are now in charge of SH
