I have a Vive. It sits the closet. Played every game worth trying years ago. Definitely not worth the hassle to plug everything in.

Dead meme gimmick. I have an ancient Oculus headset I got for like 100 bucks with a bunch of controllers and camera for them. Played it half a dozen times and it's been in the closet for like 6-7 years untouched now.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

I was thinking about buying a quest 3 for the past few months and pirating all the games worth playing on their OS (RE4 VR, idk I can't think of anymore games), Half Life: Alyx on Steam and watching movies/tv on it with the virtual theater thing.

Playing Half Life: Alyx seems like one of the most ***** things a person can do.

I would consider buying a VR headset if there were a lot of reputable games for it that appealed to me, ie VR JRPGs or something. As it is, there is not. The only thing that peaked my interest was that guy who combined a VR headset + motion controls + omnidirectional treadmill that he had to be strapped into via a diaper-esque harness so he could get a much more immersive experience of inhabiting a fantasy world when playing Skyrim, or those guys who build Star Citizen cockpits with fancy throttles and are surrounded by big screens. But those are rich men's expensive setups specific to one game (whereas I tend to beat a singleplayer campaign and then move on to the next one. I don't really sink hundreds of hours into a single game anymore) and would require a lot of space.

Yeah now that I think about it, it's pretty gay to play as a woman in VR.

Blasian woman in VR and the ending of the game is the Gman deciding to swap out Freeman for her. Based Valve saves gaming again!

I've been tempted to get one due to Blade & Sorcery and Skyrim VR, but there's just not that many interesting games for VR...
I've also heard the "it takes time for people to adopt something new" argument, but it's been... what? Almost a decade now, since the modern iteration of VR headsets popped up? And I still don't see much progress on that front. There seemed to be a slight bump in popularity back when the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive released in 2016, but the VR industry seems to have fallen silent ever since.
Sad! I used to be excited about what experiences this tech might bring us in the future, but I don't see it happening unless something big happens.

VR is something people like the idea of, but don't actually like in practice. I've never met anyone who proclaimed VR was the future of gaming who didn't stuff their set in the closet a few months later.

I have a Vive, sits in its bin. I don't have the room to set it up where I'm at right now. I liked it and I'd be inclined to set it up again if I had the space since I have a machine that can actually handle it properly now.

I've never seen a single person who owns a VR headset not echo the sentiment in this thread except weird ****** who use it to groom minors on VRchat. That's it's only killer app. A chat room where you can pretend to be a 9ft tall anime girl and hit on bicurious 16 year olds.

4. NSFW Content,
NSFW content in a post must either be put behind a spoiler, or in a thread appropriately labeled as NSFW. It's just polite.

No hardcore pornography. If deemed obscene, it will be removed. This does not apply to mere nudity — "I know it when I see it."

Brother I was already gonna try this bit to complain about not being able to post two anime fellas holding hands but it's a battle that's lost before it even begins.

Just go to a VR cafe to get it out of your system. That **** has a weaker software catalog than the PS Vita. Personally, I won't be giving VR another glance until they give up on the ridiculous idea of having people play it standing up but not supporting them actually walking anywhere. It might have some potential as an immersive visual experience controlled by more conventional input means like keyboard or gamepad while you sit down, but this idea that you can only teleport or stand still in VR because some people get dizzy is a fatal flaw.

Something like https://playactivate.com/ delivers much more on the implied promise of "real life videogame" than VR or laser tag.
