Can I skirmish the Big One, if I haven't seen it yet? I take It I can see it from the top of the stairs, which gives me some height advantage? I can't be 60 ft from the cellar, I sat across from the doorway. @Irenaeus

Maybe some of you guys can contain the fire while the rest of us handle the rodents? At the bare minimum we ought to remove any combustible material near the fire to stop it from spreading.

I'll have Brena's husband bring buckets of water to me, and I'll pass them below, and she should attend Steiner. If I don't post today, assume that's what I do.

Big chungus has taken 16 damage so far, isn't it dead yet? Also do we no longer roll for initiative?

The neck bite on Stein was so brutal that we just whiff over and over, scrambling trying to hit this rat.

Can ask Brena to attend Steiner and get her husband to pass water to the cellar?

Other quick question, are the 3 remaining enthralled rats still attacking or do they stop now that biggie's dead?

I'm sorry about your weekend Iren. We're glad you're back, for what it's worth. I hope I didn't come across as genuinely angry earlier, I tried to be as tongue-in-cheek as possible.

@maidenhaver if I understand what you were asking/doing earlier, you don't need to roll for Skirmishing at all, its whole point is that you can move into and out of combat without rolls or declared actions:
ACKS SRD wrote:
Skirmishing: The character may withdraw or retreat from melee combat without declaring the intention to do so at the start of the melee round. Characters without this proficiency must declare defensive movement before initiative dice are rolled.

Thanks, bro, I was joking too! Hope you and the rest of the gang are enjoying the game.

Tonight I'll check the next moves in the game thread and if most people have posted them, I'll write the next round.
I'll also be checking this thread and the rules thread to clear out doubts and answer questions if any. :)

Would I, as a Healer, be able to tell that Stein's wounds are much more serious than Gunthard's?

I've been reading the manual but haven't found the section on using medical items yet.
Adventurer, Conqueror, King System wrote:
Healing

All beings recover hit points through rest. For each full day of complete rest in reasonably sanitary conditions, a character or monster will recover 1d3 hp. If the rest is interrupted, the character or monster will not heal that day. Healing also occurs through magic, such as potions or spells. This kind of healing is instantaneous. Magical healing and natural healing can be combined. Characters with the Healing proficiency can improve a creature's natural healing, as described in Chapter 4.

Working together with @Norman's healing skill, would Stein be able to use his alchemy in combination with the bandages, alcohol, herbs or ingredients items to better clean the wound and improve his condition?

I assume healing magic disinfects wounds and stops the bleeding automatically. Otherwise what would be the point of it being magic?

I always liked the idea that magical healing has some side effects, though only a few systems do this.
- ugly scars that ring like hell on all magic detectors,
- spiders and faeries fall out of the patched wound as it heals normally,
- magic feeders that get attracted to your wound patched by magic and want to eat magic out of it.
The possibilities are endless!

@Norman's Cure Light Wounds brings Stein's HP up to 7. Which means he is patched up enough to get back into the cellar. But it'll take a moment for his cautious nature to allow him to delve back into that rat pit. (That was one hell of a rat.)

@DemoGraph I like the idea of the rat bite leaving a scar since it was so close to being a mortal wound, I'll play it accordingly.

ACKS has a Mortal Wounds table with all kinds of different injuries and effects, but I think you have to roll on it only when you're brought up from 0HP.

Environment: The fire Hrod started near the back wall continues to burn. ...

Your priorities might include:
β€’ Checking on/healing Gunthard.
β€’ Putting out the fire.
No indication how big it is, or if its spreading.
