I downloaded a mod that removes (most, like 90% so far) of the "paraphrased" dialog in the dialog wheel so you can actually see what you're about to say. Some of these "sarcastic" remarks are real ******* groaners man.

Red options are funny as well sometimes, in the sense that Hawke sounds like a complete lunatic in broad daylight.

Too bad his overall dialogue when not player-chosen is determined by the most picked personality, otherwise switching between green and red like a bipolar meth head would be amusing as well.

I really have no clue what my Hawke defaults to then because I tend to do a mix of everything depending on the exact dialog. I don't like just having to pick a "tone" the same way I don't like having to pick paragon or renegade in Mass Effect. Some characters I'm going to be nice to, some characters I'm gonna be mean to. On the RARE occasion a joke dialog option is amusing I'll pick that. I think I tend to lean red though since I'm pretty much default mean to anyone who isn't an elf.

You say that as though games don't still suffer from consoletardism to this very day.

Nowhere near to the same degree. Libtardism is a significantly bigger issue now, and bigger than consoletardism ever was.

Franchise? It had one OK game 16 years ago.

Hating everything after origins doesn't mean the franchise doesn't exist and the question still stands if it's a dead property with the latest failure.
They really need to focus on making smaller games and build themselves back up. All of these years and years long super expensive projects fail to meet the level of success and profitability of this humble 9 month rush job.

The franchise doesn't exist because the games that come after the first one are nothing like the first one. In fact, not a single game with the name 'Dragon Age' are remotely similar.

KOTOR and Mass Effect are closer to each other than any individual Dragon Age titled game.

Can you please stop being pedantic and acting like you don't know what I'm asking?
Do you think that the series of video games titled Dragon Age will continue to receive future installments or no?

I don't understand why it matters.
Unrelated games made by unrelated people.

And no, the series is almost certainly dead at this point.

Keep in mind it (DAO) was 7 years old when it finally released. I'll admit it was hard to look at, but with a story that kept it interesting.

How can a game be 7 years old on the day it released. Was it released on some sort of quantum disc outside of time?

Just making conversation didn't know you were going to get an autism attack. It's a little lamentable to see a property with potential be dead forever now due to being utterly squandered.

It was in development for that long, sort of. I don't think it was ever in full development until a couple years prior to release, and it also got rebooted at least once.
I remember the really old 2004ish? trailer with orcs.

Still a really weird way to describe a game's age. I've never really seen it put that way. Like saying Starfield was 8 years old or whatever marketing lie development time they listed.

I'm honestly surprised by how long Bioware's held on. Been sinking since Andromeda in 2017. That's 8 years of no hits, and still they managed to pump out Veilguard.
Dunno how they do it, but like a crawling zombie, they might very well hold out long enough to reach another Dragon Age release.

Not sure how well the Mass Effect Remaster sold, but doing the same with Dragon Age might be their best bet right now. But then again, the KOTOR remake's been in dev hell for a while now, so I honestly have no idea what they're trying to do

Sadly, I seem unable to find any footage of Dragon Age at E3 2004. It was definitely shown off there tho.

They can't.
Dragon Age was made using their in-house engine, for the Mass Effect games they probably just outsourced the remaster to another studio because it's UE3.

Nobody at current bioware knows how that engine works.

Don't worry. I remember seeing it too. There's also a bunch of screenshots of the older version that they showed off in some magazine or something.

Were BioWare games ever actually good to begin with? My only exposure to their work was Jade Empire, and it wasn’t anything spectacular. Is playing Origins considered some kind of rite of passage on this board or something?

Jade Empire was probably their most non-standard game prior to nu-bioware. It was definitely for a different audience overall.

Well, they also did that Sonic game, so…

Looks like... Ostagar? And the Lothering Chantry? And looking at the staff over there, guess that's Morrigan. Armor like you'd see on a Conan the Barbarian cover

Dragon Age was always fated to be faggy and filed with ******. Bioware has always been woke libtards.
No ******* idea how Bioware has chugged along this far without getting axed by EA. Much better studios have been axed after one stinker.

Not many studios have the sheer "presence" in the game industry, I guess. In their early days and about 12 years on, almost everything they touched turned to gold (in the sense they made shitloads of money, at any rate): Baldur's Gate, BG II, Neverwinter Nights & expansion packs, Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, Dragon Age...
Look up a video on Youtube that describes the rise and fall of Bioware.
I remember visiting Edmonton in 2019 and wanting to visit Bioware as I had the chance, but a friend of the wife, who knew a guy that had been working there, said that "it's not the Bioware you remember from 15 years ago - you will probably be disappointed." In the end we didn't have time to go there anyway, and I am glad we did not go. What has happened these last years has shown that my wife's friend was right.
Come to think of it, Bioware's story reminds me a bit about TSR's.

Jade Empire sold like **** and has aged even worse. Wouldn't exactly call that gold or even silver.
