Why elves are jewish street rats in Dragon Age

Post by rusty_shackleford »

There's really no reason this game couldn't have playable elves. So far there's more dialog where characters randomly point out you're a human that could just be cut if you choose elf. Lazy lazy ******.

that's like asking why witcher doesn't have playable elves
you have a preset character in DA2

The difference is Hawke is not an established character from a book series with lore the developers had to follow. There was no character of Hawke before they created him.

And there's no reason the preset character of "impoverished family fleeing war" absolutely had to be human. There are other elves you meet in identical circumstances as the Hawkes.
I'm just stating the facts.
Question is are you going to gargle the truth or swallow?

because hawke's family is nobility, not jewish street urchins. The entire story is contingent on his family being nobility.

So far the only relevance of the family being nobility is the estate which there's a million ways to write around getting to ultimately the same conclusion.

The entire basis of being allowed to purchase entry is because you're nobility. An elf would have been told to go drown.

Video game that lets you run around and cast blood magic in front of templars can surely find a way to justify buying a house.

No. You're the reason tieflings are treated like normal people in BG3

I think writers should not come up with a plot that requires removing core features of their first installment and if the game is going to be full of inconsistency and not caring about the lore then I especially don't really care about the paper thin "lore" justifications for it.

Larian had to completely gut humans and give their racial bonus to everyone just to make them drop from #1

So they can easily slap together a ****** justification for why an elven Hawke can own property then.

yeah like "This mercenary with ties to the city guard can own property because he helped out the city and its people, not like he is some useless refugee like the other elves and humans"
Dozens of games do this bog standard explanation. Help city, be accepted, be able to get house in city.

Please do not internalize ADL propaganda by automatically associating any persecuted minority with ****. They do not have a monopoly on victimhood.

Now I only played one game and a half in that series, but I do not remember the part in Dragon Age where elves were involved in usury, coin clipping, prostitution, or liquor distillation. Nor even the part where they got diaspora'd after rebelling against the empire; their country was destroyed by a crusade, which I guess could make them vaguely similar to Armenians if you squint.

There are elven prostitutes in the games. And, considering how there are a bunch of drunk elves in the Alienage, it could be reasonable to infer that there's moonshining going on too.
Usury and coin clipping is more of a dwarven thing. And liquor distillation most definitely too.

And the destruction of the Dales with subsequent... diaspora... of the Dalish...?

Perhaps the loss of immortality and their SUPER-CIVILIZATION OF ARLATHAN when the DIRTY SMELLY UNWASHED GOYS HUMANS tainted them irreparably...?

Ya they're fuckin ****.

The initial inspiration for the elves actually came from Jewish people—consider the lost homeland, the existence of Jewish ghettos in many medieval cities, etc.

Elves are closer to modern White people even to the point of losing our own history as schools teach that magical ******* actually invented everything, sent us to the moon etc.
