Starfield is currently leading the weekly top sellers chart on Steam, and has 250k concurrent players (deluxe edition paypigs).

What doesn't bode well is that, judging by the various gaming-related forums i have visited, this week has seriously damaged game's hype. People keep reposting the same pictures of ugly looking NPCs and comparing them to Baldur's Gate 3 party members, complaining about loading screens, complaining about bad main story, etc etc (not going to defend Starfield here, those npcs do look ugly, and Emil couldn't write a good main quest even if his life depended on it).

Is it going to beat BG3's number of concurrent players (800k+)???

Arguably, this is Bethesda cashing in all the bad rep they got for Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. Also, I think Microsoft ****** themselves over by using it as Gamepass bait, lots of people likely just paid for a subscription to try the game out.

I imagine it will sell consistently as time goes on and it stays in the spotlight as new DLC and mods get released.

Then again, I might be full of **** and people might have grown tired of Bethesda's formula and apparent lack of polish after being exposed to more games and RPGs.
