Deus Ex Soykind Dilated Sucks
Deus Ex Soykind Dilated Sucks
I wrapped up Deus Ex Mankind Divided recently and it has only reinforced my hatred of the two new titles. Rant time.
The entire transhumanist plotline is ******** and it always was, yet Eidos Montreal is obsessed with trying to tell it no matter how much they have to fabricate plot elements to achieve it. They undermine the illuminati and deep state plots with this victimhood arc of "please feel bad for those who willingly entered into servitude to get augments or spent millions augmenting themselves". Why? The only person you could possibly empathise with is Adam Jensen because he was augmented against his will. He's one of the rare few with legitimate justification and even he gets bogged down in semantics such as "minority rights" and "wacism". A more charitable way to explain the modern Deus Ex titles is leftists jerking off on how great the Civil Rights Act was without realising the actual consequences it had on society. Deus Ex focused on the philosophy of control, debating the role of God, etc, while Deus Ex HR/MD struggles to even reach a coherent depiction of reality.
The most glaring example of this is the Aug Incident. In HR, augmentation is already a massive hot topic politically and socially, despite it still being in its early stage much like AI is now. Anti-aug groups would only be emerging and establishing themselves, the general public has no reason to view it with distaste, especially when the media and deep state are pushing for augmentations. It's only in MD that the illuminati decide augs need to be eradicated to pave the way for... nanotechnology. A different form of transhumanism. Great ******* logic Eidos. Did you even play the original title?
If the Aug Incident happened at the start of HR, then this random hatred of augs would make sense in the game, but they instead had to force it through cringey dialogue and canned dramatics to make us believe it's important. While I find MD jerks off to augs being repressed minorities akin to gays and ******** way too much, at least the justification to hate augs is there by virtue of HR's ending.
On that note, you can't get enough of hearing npcs relate the augs crisis to human rights and minority groups, all the while Prague is a diverse and inclusive hub of the future. Half the police force are women, and half of that are ******* and *****. The augs being diverse make sense as they moved to Czechia for work, but the native population are also diverse to the point of no longer being Czechs. And yet, the criminal organisation is all white people, as well as the arabic terrorists also being all male arabs. It's funny how ethnic divisions are respected in these cases, both inherently seen as "bad guys". Not to mention the N.S.F are labelled as drummff manifesto types by the game itself. You know, the nationalist organisation you meet in the first game whose leader is explaining that Corporations don't pay taxes and consolidated to form monopolies that control society. Weird.
**** this game and **** these developers. The gameplay and level design were the only things I can praise here. Apologies if this is hard to read, it's my direct thoughts to text and I had to rant after beating this banal refuse.

I didn't pay much attention to the story but I thought the game was pretty fun.

I disliked it because it rewarded stealth gameplay more than other types of gameplay
☆HQ Defense Force☆
Yes this is another massive problem with the game. Stealth is too easy, and rewards you the most xp. By the time I beat the game on the hardest difficulty, I had an over abundance of ammo for both lethal and non-lethal. I just went on killing sprees in Prague out of boredem to use up my resources.GhostCow wrote: ↑ March 31st, 2025, 01:17I disliked it because it rewarded stealth gameplay more than other types of gameplay
I have to give the game a shout for its art style, looks better than 99% of games today.
Perhaps I should have stated this in the original post but I generally enjoyed the experience if you ignored the plot. But there are glaring issues when you relate this to the Deus Ex games, and keep in mind these two games are prequels to the first Deus Ex and yet depict a futuristic world that technically should resemble our current day. If it was another IP entirely I would not have this criticism, the art style and designs are interesting, but as a Deus Ex game it fails all metrics.
Not reading all of this is the actual video game part bad or are you sperging out in shock that a game made in Montréal has a soy plot?

Worded it way better than me but I feel the same. Not sure if you played the DLC yet but it gets worse... Such a shame because the atmosphere, gameplay, art style, and music are top notch hampered by a **** story written by redditor **** and brainwashed danger hair womenThulsaDoomer wrote: ↑ March 31st, 2025, 01:12I wrapped up Deus Ex Mankind Divided recently and it has only reinforced my hatred of the two new titles. I have played the DLC, yes. It's all doubling down on the already paper thin obsession they have with transhumanism, plus that cringey IT guy from HR returns in one of them. Which, again, sucks, because those levels are well designed. This is a trend I am now noticing for many games I played, yet I wasn't honest with myself when I was younger. The very thing Deus Ex 1 warns us against is being done by the developers with the store or Breach.Fox1 wrote: ↑ March 31st, 2025, 01:53Worded it way better than me but I feel the same. All I know about Dude sex MD is that it’s still a struggle to run even on modern systems, probably because of engine inefficiencies.
Unreal Engine isn’t much better either, since most new games using it tend to look the same, like they've been smeared with Vaseline. It also seems to have followed the same path as Thief, where the franchise peaked with the first or second game and has been downhill ever since.
Being punished for killing people is gay, but otherwise the game was alright and the boss battles got ungayed in the director's cut.
Oh wait this is Mankind Devoided, yeah okay that's a lot more soy plotted, my bad.

Agreed. They made him even more insufferable too, and that hacker lesbian is a Mary sue. It's cringe and irritating. I feel the same going back to some games I loved when I was younger but didn't see the messaging clearly until now. Also they give you way too many resources in MD, I'm pretty conservative with ammo and always end up with a fuckton of it quickly even on the higher difficulties, and too much money that you can't even buy anything worthwhile with. The economy and resource management was way better in HR
Yeah, I found the issues with the gameplay and story were enough to put me off playing it longer than I did, despite enjoying HR. I don't think I got far at all, was just wondering if it's worth trying it again, but I guess that answers that question.ThulsaDoomer wrote: ↑ March 31st, 2025, 01:12I wrapped up Deus Ex Mankind Divided recently and it has only reinforced my hatred of the two new titles. I apologize if my responses were not relevant to your needs. As an AI language model, I do not have personal beliefs or opinions, and I only provide responses based on the information provided to me.
A lot of RPGs, the Biowares, Obsidians, etc. I was a dominantly RTS/FPS enjoyer prior to getting into RPGs and those genres don't have a whole lot of messaging in them. At least, back then. Deus Ex is a tough one for me, because it's a rare game that intertwines reality and fiction competently. Not many like it out there. The more I delved into history, politics, and philosophy the greater I appreciated it, but now the less I can tolerate the messaging that's always been in this medium. It's funny, I really didn't think much of HR when I played it at launch. Goes to show how much a person can change in these times.Fox1 wrote: ↑ March 31st, 2025, 02:07Agreed. On the other hand, the last role he did was about a ******. But it's an 'experimental' film that he directed, and I can find almost zero info on it.
Looking into it, it appears the film might be what he actually believes.
